1 - How old were you when you did your first WEX?
Just turned 15 (year 10).
2 - Did you think you were too young to do it?
Yes, I was nervous at first due to what my placement was, and I think if I had done it in year 11 I would have learnt more and been more mature about it and chose my own placement.
3 - Did you do it because you had to?
Yes, but I probably would have done it anyway if there was somewhere I wanted to go.
4 - Did you do a WEX that you really wanted to do?
No, I was with Martlet homes which is basically council housing and I was with the gas servicing team going out and looking at boilers and general plumbing. I was with an older experienced guy who was great and we went out in a van and I got to do a lot later on when he had explained more to me. Only bad thing was having to go into ***** council houses full of chavs (although there were some old dears).
5 - Did you enjoy it and get something out of it?
It was enjoyable as it was something different and I got to do some actual work, I didn't chose the placement but it was better than shelf stacking which my brother got.
6 - Did it guide you into a career path?
Still in year 11, but no it won't as I would never consider a manual engineering job like that, wasn't as bad or boring as I thought though.

1 - How old were you when you did your first WEX?
15/16
2 - Did you think you were too young to do it?
No
3 - Did you do it because you had to?
No I was quite happy to do it, we didn't have to. If you wanted to you could spend a week studying but you had to come into school every day and be monitored by a teacher.
4 - Did you do a WEX that you really wanted to do?
Kind of. I went to a Competitor as several of my mates were going and I was interested.
5 - Did you enjoy it and get something out of it?
No. While others got put into decent sections like Repairs etc I got lumped in Business Development which was geared at selling machines to large companies. They had nothing for me to do, I was effectively given a laptop for the week with unlimited access to the internet. Their idea of a challenge was to give me a logo and ask me to duplicate it on a PC, that took me 30mins. I think the expected me to take all week, so after that I sat and browsed the internet. The only good point of the week was the unlimited meal vouchers for the canteen which allowed me to take as much as I wanted on my tray.
6 - Did it guide you into a career path?
No. I don't work in Computing.
