Wow, some people in here are so spoiled. Free tea and coffee? OMG

That's like, every workplace since the 1990's :p :p

I just realised what my biggest perk is: there's a lot of attractive young girls that work here, and the best part, they have to talk to me because they work with me. Excellent.

This is one of my perks too. Office is loaded with young girls 20-25 who are stunning. Hnnnngg.

Free hot drinks (got quite a few Nespresso machines too)
Fridge full of cans of soft drinks
Fridge full of beer/cider/wine for Friday afternoons
Mr Whippy machine in the summer
Can take holiday at very short notice
Monthly massage
Bacon sandwich (or choice of other cooked breakfast) every Friday morning
Quite often all go out and will have a company tab
Free gym membership to every Virgin Active gym
Cycle to work scheme
Private healthcare
"Smart Casual" so jeans and a T-shirt every day
Fruit baskets
TV and Xbox in the kitchen
Quite often there's free pizza
Dual screens at desk
Can work from home
Relaxed attitude to work as long as it gets done.
Sick days never really get reported so if you don't take liberties you're still on full pay.

Probably a few more things, quite like where I work :)

Free chilled water and discounted vending machines. I often take vending items home with me as it's so much cheaper than going to shop for snacks.

Know - yes

Care - not a jot

Everyone does it in fact I'd say I'm one of the most honest cabbies going as I actually pay some tax so many of my colleagues are up to all sorts signing on and shifting a cab etc etc.

Need to claim a new pc this year for doing my accounts on do I need dual 780s for excel ? :)

"Everyone else does it so it's fine". Great attitude.

You don't work in the rail industry by any chance do you?

I would guess NHS.

How did you guess?

The worst of it isn't even any of the things I listed above. I knew I would be working for a poor wage, dealing with drunks and working Christmases when I took the job and I took it anyway. The worst bit is my job used to be about helping people, now it's about meeting targets. I'd have been as well selling my soul to the private sector since all I do is meet meaningless performance targets all day long anyway

32.5 hours a week (after breaks)
free internet, tea & coffee, water
most of the time a relaxed work environment
dont really have a boss so to speak
good overtime
good opportunities to travel
put on good events - xmas do etc.
pretty good pension
free private medical care

We have quite a lot, more than anywhere else I've worked:

- Dental Care
- Health Care
- Yearly Bonus
- Summer Bonus (flat rate X % of salary in July)
- Monthly Cinema Trip
- Multiple expensive work parties
- 400 Euros (a year) worth of free cinema ticket, gig tickets or "cultural" events.
- Company rents out the apartment for you, to make it easier to get the place you want to rent (also has tax benefits).
- Relocation assistance + hefty bonus
- Social Friday (free food, drinks etc. every week at 3pm)
- Free gym on-site.
- Games room (TV with consoles, pool table etc.)
- Free tea, coffee (decent machine), fruit, biscuits, nuts etc and unlimited soda.
- Weekly masseuse that visits the office on significantly reduced rates.
- Flexi-time.
- Beastly computers + up to three monitors.
- No dress code to speak of at all.

Probably more that I forgot.

...

I know quite a few people who work in the NHS, including close family.

This might seem controversial, but why not? After all, I am sure that some people join the military for the free training and after they have served their time, go on to become successful pilots / specialist trainers, etc, in the private sector. Why not the same for the private medical sector? It does seem that the NHS is becoming more and more bureaucratic by the day, so if you're genuinely unhappy, maybe it's time to move to somewhere that might appreciate your input more.

My business get me VAT free and tax free gadget purchases, saves me 20% off RRP then a further 40%.. Happy days

Day job gets me unlimited PC upgrades within reason

Large portion of income is tax free cash payments ftw

You know that's illegal, right?

Of course he will but anyone in the same position would do most likely do the same. I know I would.

We don't.

.....

Run my own business so can basically buy almost anything media related (computer or A/V tech etc) as an expense VAT-free.

^^^^
If you buy it for non-business related use (which your statement implies), how is that different?
