work shift question

Normally they will have to give you a "reasonable" amount of notice for a change in hours but if its less hours but still meets or exceeds your contracted amount then they are able to do that.

If you aren't asked to do days you dont normally work... And you still hit your 16 hours, then yes they are will within their right to do that. Technically even if you don't hit the 16 hours, unless it repeats over a number of weeks.. it is perfectly legal also.

So even with the change you are still working 16 hours, so I assume the two hours (6-10 instead of 6-12) would have been overtime?
As long as you get your contracted hours I don't think you can do anything.

On average I work the mid 35 hours a week, but sometimes high 40's (and I do another job 12.5 hours a week)

They could legally drop you to 16 hours a week and you couldn't really do anything about it.

Funnily enough, if you where on a zero hour contract and they did the same.. It could be called as "constructive dismissal" and would lose in court.
Those nasty zero hours contracts protecting employees :p

yeah I did a casual worker, for me it worked well as with my other two jobs, a third job casual worker worked great.

Shame the company and supermarket was a arse about it- and I'll never spend a penny in that supermarket again. Two letters, one symbol.
