Working the doors

I've worked with about 15 of them over the years - I'd say 1 had any intelligence, and the other 14 were like everyone else in the leisure industry :)

I personally know two bouncers. One of them is in his mid thirties and is a really hard bloke who likes a laugh. I've seen him do his job, he is polite, calm and level headed. And I've also seen him in a few fights because some guys obviously think they are always in the right and they've been sparked out by him. The other guy I know is 19, quite big and is a boxer. Again, he is a really nice guy. A few guys had an argument with him over something ridiculously stupid and another bouncer threw them out. These guys waited for him at his car after the bar was closed. He had no choice but to kick the crap outta them before they put him in hospital. They don't go looking for violence, they do their job, it's the idiots in the bars who mostly start the fights.

Ive never seen a 'spoons with doormen but if the dress code is the same at them all you shouldnt have any problem as long as your wearing something else and not just trainers and a smile :p

Unless your Female. :p

"Got any ID?"

"15 Huh?"

*girl shows some more clevage*

"in ya go lass"

 :p

Half the bouncers I have seen in large clubs are mainly there for the trip. All they really want to do is have any excuse for a fight. These are all heavy handed and just want to show theyre the boss, way above what is called for.
I personally know 2 people who have been or are bouncers, one is the biggest ****** on the planet and really does a disservice to all good bouncers (of which there are a load) and the other is the one of the best boncers i have seen working. Calm, collected and peaceful. He always seens to be able to get even the most tanked up person out of a club without a scene. I suppose as usual there will always be the heavy handed loosers out there as there are in all jobs ruining it for all the good ones.

On that note i hope your one of the good ones and have a good time in your job! :)

Yeah definately a wide variety of bouncers. The local weatherspoons ones are wicked, nice blokes. Say bye when you leave , have a good night etc wheras some of the other places guys are gimps.

Probably because for every 100 doormen there is 1 single brain cell that has to be passed arou nd, meaning the other 99% are utterly brainless.

:p

absolute rubbish mate, your showing your own ignorance with that statement. ive personally got a degree so am not completely thick. on the door that i was a doorman at, in my team of 5 i had 1 who was doing a doctorate in something to do with science. another who had just finished a bio physics degree and recieved a 1st. another doing pure maths and yes there was one who was a welder, cant all be perfect then i guess.

and you will find the vast majority are hard working people who are just simpy supplimenting their income to give themselves a better life.

All the bouncers around my area are usually pretty polite. Hellos & goodbyes, and are usually fair. Which is suprising, because in Crewe, theres gonna be a fair bit of trouble from the scallies.
The security guard at one of my jobs used to be a bouncer, he's quite a level headed guy, doesnt get physical unless it really has to be done.

Now there's a sweeping generalisation if ever I saw one. A pretty silly one at that.

I used to do security many years ago and we used to be able to eject/restrain people until the police arrived. Any doorman who feels the need to use his fists is in it for the glory.

Went well last night anyway, boring actually nothing happened. Except for the 1 person who thought he was rambo.
there used to be a guy like that in the club i worked at.
although we called him rambo because he used to put his tie around the top of his head like some kind of half baked bandana then procede to dance like someone having convulsions.

Never seen spoons with doormen? The one I go to every friday has 2 doormen on each entrance with handheld metal detectors :p

I think he was joking...hence the smiley;)

Personally i dont mind the doormen, some can be pleasant and quite nice natured...its the the east european ones that seem to have the most attitude around here in London...well the clubs i go to or used to go to. I dont have much time for them perhaps thats due to one of my mates who got a steel stool battered over his head because he was having an arguement with some guy and the bouncer there, kosavan guy took things into his own hands etc.

Nowadays i dont bother going as i no longer feel the need to mingle with a bunch of immature 18-20 yr old girls or guys making right fools of themselves. Plus i dont drink so dont really enjoy the club/pub/winebar scene that much anymore. Give me a nice posh fancy restaurant anyday :p
