WCG challenge starting on the 16th Nov to the 25th Nov.

Similar to the Pogs challenge as it's run through boinc and the WUs need to be verified therefore there will be pending credit, so starting before the start date is preferable. WCG has sub projects (currently; fight aids, mapping cancer markers,uncovering genome mysteries, clean energy project), any or all of which can be ran for the challenge, but if you have a preference you can enable/disable which one you want to run here and currently 71 other teams have signed up :eek:

I started running it a few days ago to get a running start and seem to be getting up to speed. Unfortunately, it's not adding to my cross-project stats as yet. I'm still contributing to OcUK though so, all is good.
 
Sounds laudable, count me in :)
CPU only for the moment though I think.

For new members, please note there seem to be two teams on this project: OCUK and OcUK - Overclockers UK. The correct one seems to be the latter.
 
I've joined the team for this but am I right in thinking it does do GPU work but that they don't have any GPU work ?

Would quite happily put GPUs on it and will put CPUs on whilst other work I'm waiting for isn't being sent out.

Do all the projects score the same ?

For a bit of fun, any guesses on where we will finish, podium, top 5, top 10, top 50 :eek:
 
I believe you're right, currently no projects with GPU work. I believe the sub projects score roughly the same, I'm testing it at the moment. Perhaps Ivyforce has more info, he's seems to have ran it for quite some time.

As to where we'll finish, top ten would be incredible, top 20 respectable, there are some massive teams signed up.
 
right, ill just finish the folding then swop over.

Will try the clean energy 1 first as its the biggest, (even tho i know its the use of seawater to get hydrogen + oxygen to burn as a fuel haha free fuel for life)

Edit: Seems to get what it wants lol, o well as long as its crunching

Having to wait 24 hours to get score sucks, i got 24 pages done in 12 hours, ah well

Just me who thinks using umpteen gigawatts of power to crunch the numbers for the clean energy project a little ironic?

I'm sure it's just a delay on boincstats, you'll probably appear today. You're definitely here: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/team/viewTeamMemberDetail.do?sort=points&teamId=CH66PJGKZ1 and that's what counts, though the points on there you have to divide by 7 for some reason to get an idea of the boinc points reading.

Ok ill wait and see tho why that international team has kidnapped me i dont know haha tho it appears to be OcUk , hmmm

its a good job to start well before the next challenge to sort out the "bugs" and get the points flowing

Clean energy takes the longest in terms of time, around 12hours a task
UGM,MCM and FAH all normally be 3-6 hours a task.

Never really looked at points tbh, got blue badge for each project then just sat on the one I though most worthwhile.

Shame in a way no project uses GPU currently.
