World Cup 2010 - Final (Sunday 11th July 2010) **spoilers**

Should I receive the final in surround on BBC HD or ITV HD on freeview? My Onkyo 380 shows Dolby on BBC and PCM on ITV, but neither gives me anything but stereo?
(In case it matters, I've got a Sony EX503 with the amp connected by optical)

I said it would be a boring final and it has been, it's the final though, it has to be watched.
Even when I wasn't into football I always watched the final.

I'm wondering how the Netherlands still have 11 players on the pitch.
Spectacular goal, but that sort of thing doesn't require that much ability. Ultimately if you swing at enough one will do that sooner or later. The Villa one's a better goal for me, as is the Oezil one - much better technically.

Holland have the better goal scorers. Spain are relying on Villa do to d the scoring.

I'm getting it in DD5.1 on BBC HD via Sky.
Each to their own I suppose, personally if I am certain that something will be boring, I dont do it. No matter what it is. I dont watch the Ashes for example because I find it boring, likewise I didnt watch the Wimbledon final as I was certain it was going to be boring. I suppose everyone is different and does different things with their freetime though.

I think people would make more money betting on cards shown than goals scored.

I'm not sure about that - Villa and Sneijder have scored as many as each other, and I'd argue that Iniesta and Pedro are as dangerous as RvP and Robben...to be honest neither side are that good going forward.

Its football. My dad watches and enjoys the world cup and he doesn't even understand half the rules.

Holland have shown better goals this tournament though.
I don't watch those sports, I don't mind watching this final because I'm still interested in the result. Just a shame it came down to these two, it's not either of their fault specifically but the two together is just making for a dull match.
Not that this is ever going to affect me unless my life takes a pretty dramatic twist, but I NEVER want to go up for a header with Puyol! Beast.
Better or more? The Dutch have scored more yes, but the Gio one aside they haven't been great goals - deflections, own goals etc. The Dutch are lucky to be in the final, I'd argue the Spanish are not.

Well you dont really need to understand the rules to enjoy watching something, I enjoy watching Nascar but dont know the rules. The key word in your sentence there is enjoy...your dad watches and enjoys, thats somewhat different to watching something that you arent enjoying.
I dont have a problem, just find it curious from a psychological viewpoint that people do something that they dont enjoy. (its something which I find interesting from many walks of life, from tv shows to computer games). The cynic in me thinks that some people do it just so that they have something to moan about to people as a form of social interaction

Could you not just see what the result is on the news or something when its over and save having to force yourself to be bored for 90+mins? Thats what I would do. Everyone is different though as I say.
