World Cup 2010 - Final (Sunday 11th July 2010) **spoilers**

Can't agree with that, Pedro has great talent but his decision making is understandably poor given his lack of experience.

Villa barely did anything. Not his fault, he was in space plenty of times but his team mates failed to find him.

Xavi and Iniesta did lots of very pretty passes in front of the German team....but didn't really do a great deal with it. There just wasn't enough penetration, it was like watching Arsenal. In the first half Spain must have had a good 60% possession but Germany looked so much more dangerous with it.

And yes Germany were poor, never said they weren't. That doesn't mean Spain weren't poor as well. They just had some luck (Ramos not getting sent off and the penalty not being given) and a good header from Puyol.

he made 1 wrong decision when he should have passed to torres, other than that he ran riot all over germany, he even skinned 3 players in 1 run, and usually skinned 1 or 2 every other time (pedro).

villa was quiet, but you cant expect him to tear apart teams in every game, so 1 bad game in 6 matches, i think i would take that over 4 bad games in 4 matches aka rooney so i think villa can be forgiven for this 1 match which he came up against a very solid defense which kept him quiet.

this was always going to be a tough match, so yes a 1-0 was what i expected, just didnt know what team would do it. spain dominated and germany counter attacked, as everyone expected.

i expect the same in the final, but i can see some dutch players giving away fouls and getting booked early (some of them are too old to run about for that long and will get frustrated quickly). i expect to see a red card for the dutch team in the final and spain winning 2-0. van persie has been extremely poor and i dont expect him to do much, if the dutch do score it will be from a corner, kuyt always obstructs the keeper or main players which helps either him or his team mates bag a scrappy crap goal, so either spain will win classy or holland will win ugly (their long shots wont work against spain), but either way im rooting for spain 2-0.

ive been fairly spot on with my predictions in finals before. (made £250ish from £40ish on the champions league final).

i would start with llorente and villa up front, midfield of xavi, iniesta, fabregas and busquets.

usual back 4 of capdevilla, pique, puyol and ramos.

reina (never going to happen though, casillas is like david beckham in spain - untouchable)

so i expect to see. torres (who has been ruined by benitez over playing him and using him when injured) instead of llorente, fabregas on the bench for that guy whos name i cant remember (just because he plays in spain and fabregas doesnt) and casillas (spains god) in goal over the team i would pick.

i would also put pedro on as a sub for iniesta at 60 mins from my selection, just to rile up a tired old dutch defence.

what i noticed in the semi final between spain and germany was that the germans didnt exploit the space down the wing when ramos pushed forward so theres a possibility of that being a dutch tactic. I'm glad van der weil and de jong are back that will give them a fighting chance.

hopefully a dutch win

I really want the dutch to win but I can imagine another 1-0 borefest from the spanish. :( Ah well, at least someone new will definitely win it this year. Golden boot is gonna be interesting after mueller and forlan scored yesterday. :)

edit: well done for webb getting in the final, let's hope he has an excellent match! :)

Heres a thought to all the people saying its going to be a borefest boo hoo hoo:p...do yourself all a favour and dont watch the game:p....its simple really

Fact is most WC finals are boring...they arent the most exciting games as both teams are nervous and edgy till they get more confident.

Anyways OLE OLE Spain...add the WC trophy to the Euro trophy you already have boys:D

I see Spain winning it, they maintain possession of the ball in midfield too well, I don't think Holland will cope with it, but Robben as much as I despise him will give Capdevila a nightmare on the left, I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that Holland win but I don't see it happening.

Happy Birthday Jakeke! :)

Spain would be a lot more capable if they werent relying on torres who is a crock.

Start with llorente and villa up front and watch 5 goals fly in, or even anybody apart from torres, its obvious hes only at 60% and cant do anything right.

I hope hes benched tonight and villa isnt on his own up front.

Cheers mate! Agree with your post too, Spain's ball retention is a major asset to have, it means that they can keep the ball for minutes at a time whilst the opposition are running around like madmen getting no where near the ball, knowing from experience, that tires you out very quickly and when you do get the ball it makes it much more difficult to do something good, it's very easy to mess up your first touch or a pass when you're knackered, and then you add in Spain's work rate off the ball and it makes it extremely hard to get into an even game with Spain, which leaves you with the option of dropping deep and trying to counter attack which in itself is very dangerous.

For some reason I want Holland to win but I think Spain will get a win in 90 minutes, Van Bommel to get sent off too!
