Apologies to Internet Explorer users, these threads are absolute poo in IE, I didn't realise how bad until I just opened one in IE there, quite strange how there's such a difference between how firefox and IE interprets the forum code. :p

So it's best viewed in Firefox.

Actually scrap that, it's not a browser issue, I have stylish installed in firefox and it shows the code a lot differently. I will tinker around with the threads to get rid of the scrollbars and such. :p

Agreed and done. :)

Initially there was no scrolling at all and there wasn't until I tested it in IE and seen that there was (there was none in firefox with stylish addon installed), my mistake though as I didn't test the code in other settings so I've had to break up the fixtures into days. Thanks for all the comments guys. :)

If you add nation specific girls in to their respective threads then that'll work well enough?:)

Indeed, cracking idea, you won't get all the knobs descending into one thread then :)

Yes, I think it will also create reference points in the threads making it easier to pick up the last post you read, etc. Good idea! :D

I think the best thing about these threads are your signatures Linoge.

Compliments of the link PK posted above, a 4th sig has been added to the rotation. :D

What time are we expecting the England squad to be announced?

Any time now up to 11pm I think.

Interesting stat that no foreign coach has ever won the World Cup. So that narrows the possible winners down to:

Mexico, Uruguay, France, Argentina, S. Korea, USA, Algeria, Slovenia, Germany, Serbia, Holland, Denmark, Japan, Italy, New Zealand, Slovakia, Brazil, N. Korea, Portugal and Spain. :p

Feel sorry for Bent. Top English goal scorer in the Premiership before the last world cup and near the top again this year.

It makes Capello a bit of a liar too when he said he'll be bringing form players with him to the World Cup. If he brings 3 goals Heskey with him, what on earth does Bent have to do when he scored 24 this season.

You do know Walcott's a striker surely!? It's not down to 1 or the other, it should be both, then blow SWP up.

Arsenal signed him when he was 17, Wenger and Capello haven't played him up front (maybe the odd game for Arsenal up when there have been injuries). You'd think those two coaches would find his best position if he was truly a striker. Van Nistelrooy was a central defender until he 17 and his coaches seen him better further up the field.

What a shambles, why couldn't they just announce the squad properly and not make such a prolonged song and dance about it?

Still can't believe 3 in form players this season in Johnson, Bent and Parker will be ditched in favour of the likes of SWP, Heskey and Carrick.

Crouch getting goals? Hasn't been scoring very many this season.

Only Defoe and Rooney are players who have proven goal scoring ability.

While Crouch has scored a fair few goals for England, I think its important to look at the context.

edit:

i don't mind having Crouch, since as a sub he can be a target man. But then I believe you don't take Heskey (but Bent) or take a 5th striker.

Never really noticed before, but Crouch has only scored outside England 4 times.

Walcott is a black Darren Huckerby. Pace, pace, pace and not much else. Lennon is a far better player.

I remember Darren Huckerby as a pretty good goalscorer from midfield. You're doing him a disservice by comparing Walcott to him.

tbf to Walcott he's still 21, which in football terms is very young, especially when at a big club, he would have been the youngest player in the squad and his career has been riddled with serious, long term injuries. In between the injuries he has shown plenty of promise and certainly enough to keep him around at the club. More recently he's taken a long time to find his feet, though he was the only Arsenal player that did anything against Barca even though that didn't matter anyway, in fact, he's usually really good in big games which is a great quality to have

It's definitely too early to write him off imo

4 years under Wenger and not one bit of an improvement? Something is not going right, even the lesser players at Arsenal gradually improve under Wenger.

I think if Gerrard finds good form, his linkup play with Rooney is unrivalled in the England team, whether we'll see it is another matter completely. I really don't know why Gerrard's season is being compared with Walcott's. There simply is no comparison to make, despite having a poor season by his standards he is still head and shoulders above most midfielders in the EPL. Walcott can't pass or cross a ball, pretty shocking really. All he does is run and run and run and run. He's in the wrong sport.

Ferdinand is a crock now, at first I thought we had signed Smalling because the rumours of Vidic leaving started gaining momentum, but all along he's been bought to replace Ferdinand who can't play 3 games in a row without doing something.

The worst thing about it is that the stadium isn't even close to being full yet that noise from the few who are blowing them is enough to annoy me. :/

They won't be as loud when the commentators babble on. It's just there is no commentary for this match.

Small 20,000 capacity stadium not even full, it'll be much worse for the world cup games when the stadium is packed and there's about 15,000 more vuvuzelas in the place. :(
