World Cup 2010 - Quarter-finals **spoilers**

So cheating in any way is fairplay if you don't get caught. Be that performance enhancing drugs, injuring Messi etc.

Drugs? Don't be stupid.

Nobbling their best player? That's something of a tradition, isn't it. All great players get kicked from pillar to post for 90 minutes. Your teams does it. My team does it.

Well let's face it, Ghana had enough chances to put it right. Missed their awarded penalty by a country mile, then missed 2 more.

Don't know why Fifa bother with promoting all this "Fair Play" stuff as obviously a lot of countries don't take any notice.

Fifa are just a bunch of corrupt old sods who like to line their own pockets, plus do their best to make sure British teams are never successful again - same applies to Uefa too. Rant over :D

What a game of footy!!!

Pity about Ghana, they had a great chance to seal it and blew it. No one to blame but themselves in the end.

I think I would blame the guy who cheated to stop me scoring in the first place, instead of losing honourably like the game should be played. Disgusting
Yes they missed the pen, so it is themselves to blame for that, and losing at the pen shootout.
Why are they taking an unnecessary penalty in the first place when they used their honest hard work to achieve it the way it should be.

Hope Holland batter them

Worst incident of the World Cup by a mile.
To the rescue:

Suarez - Hero and a legend imo!

He cheated and got punished for it. In the end it did the right thing for his team imo. I'd have done the same.

I don't see the cheating here.

Cheating means he got away with it. He got caught, got sent off. Then Ghana had the chance to win it from the spot, nobody cheat Ghana out of that missed pen.

Everything from the handball on was by the rules. If the ref didn't see the handball and then Uruguay won the shootout then I would agree they have cheated.

Its not the same as maradonna scored the hand of god goal and he got away with it.

Good thing most people don't believe in that philosophy. Otherwise football would be a much bigger cheatfest than it is.

you obviously dont watch much football

everyone cheats, by diving for penalties but handling the ball isnt cheating its taking one for the team, if he got away with it then it is cheating

Had he not handled, it was a definite goal. That's cheating in anyone's book.

spot on - he took one for the team

Poor Ghana :(

Good character for Gyan to take their first, but it's a shame the way they went out. Was surprised Boateng didn't step up though, he is a penalty taker (and misser). Gutted :(

Thing is though, couldn't he have headed it? It didn't look like it was too hard for him to.

What I will say is that the free kick which led to the goal probably wasn't a free kick. It doesn't condone cheating, but you could say that justice was done with that not going in...

What on earth are you smoking? Only them selves to blame when their winning goal gets denied because of a cheater? Yeah right!

Yes, they had a cracking chance to win the game, the cheat was sent off, as punishment, and they had a penalty to win the game. They missed and the game carries on. I thought this was how it happens in every football match???

I feel sorry for Ghana but certainly won't critcise Suarez for making the ultimate sacrifice for his team. You play to win - always.
