World Cup Betting Thread *No Spoilers*

Put £5 on for Belgium to win in 90 mins followed by France to do the same. So far so good, pays out 3 to 1 returning £20.

£15 on France to win in 90 mins at 1.9 to 1 returning £27.50.

The only other ones I am running are for the overall winner of the WC. I have taken advantage of various initial offers so I have been able to hedge my bets and run some free ones.

France win the WC:
£10 on at 2 to 1 returning £30
£10 on at 1.87 to 1 returning £18.50 (free bet)
£5 on at 2 to 1 returning £10 (free bet)
£10 on at 0.66 to 1 returning £6.66 (free bet)
Sum: £65.16

Croatia to win the WC:
£10 on at 5 to 1 returning £50 (free bet)
£5 on at 5 to 1 returning £25 (free bet)
£5 on at 5 to 1 returning £25 (free bet)
Sum: £100

so if France win in 90 mins it gives me the best result, as it pays out £20 + £27.50 + £65.16 = £112.66

If France win but it takes longer than 90 minutes then it's just £65.16

If Croatia win the WC it's £100.

I put in £85 over 5-6 different sites originally, my balances stand at £72.50 so I only need £12.50 to get back to break even, plus whatever Quidco tracks is just a bonus. Quidco currently tracked £125 but I am not expecting all of them to actually be honored.

I went each way on both France and Croatia in the quarter finals so a few quid from both of those.
Lukaku and Kane both each way as top scorers.
Overall I'm up about £40

I'm definitely not a big gambler or anything, I always intended to withdraw whatever I had left after the WC ended. I also don't tend to follow football much beyond the bigger events (world cups, euros) and whatever knowledge playing Fifa imparts on me.

From £85 I wound up with £188 so a net gain of £103. I am pretty happy with that. just need to do the hard part now and get the money out of the bookies! Small sums of money compared to what some people are prepared to risk/gain, but I don't have an appetite for large risks.

Would have been a bit better off perhaps if England had won as a few of my bets fell over on that result.

Highlights include calling the correct qualifier on the 4 quarter final games as an accumulator, which turned £10 into £70, calling France to beat Belgium in 90 minutes, and calling Belgium and France to both win in 90 minutes in the winner/runner up playoffs, also managed to put enough down on France to win it before the odds shortened. I didn't tend to bet on numbers of goals or accurate scores or anything, I wanted results I could rely on in a binary fashion, rather than trying to get the right numbers of goals or predict how many corners there would be or anything.

Only regret is not starting a little earlier on, I seem to do a reasonable job of predicting the International games, when OCUK did the Euro 2016 thing I managed to come somewhere near the top on the competition they ran at the time. When the group playoffs were going on I was talking to the guys at work and was guessing the winner right most of the time as well. Will probably be back at the Euros in a couple of years :)

Stuck £100 on France to win just before the game for a £215 return. Had a tenner on them from the start for £65 return as well. £170 profit yesterday so pretty happy with that.

Accidental £140 win on a matched bet which essentially turned into a gamble as the lay odds for France massively shot up, leaving me in a pickle. Thank God for that 1st France goal :D.

Wedding fund has got a massive boost thanks to this tournament :o:D
