Pretended to get hit in the face by Puyol :(

Now we know where he learned to do that ;)

Funny how quick the commentators were to **** him off or how quick the fans were. Had that been Joe Cole they would have closed their eyes and if you wanna **** Henry when he does something like that then why not praise him when he doesn't dive or when he does get kicked about but not go down holding his ankles like he has been shot? During the CL final Henry was given rough treatment by the Barca CBs but the ref did **** all to protect him so he even said maybe he needs to dive to get the freekicks he deserves.

For a long time he has complained about some of the treatment he gets but the players who dive defenders don't try to kick em because they will concede a freekick but the honest ones have lumps kicked off them!

I for one would not close my eyes to it, I'd be very disappointed he hadn't stayed on his feet and done something with it. Most of us are slagging him off because he made a big song a dance about divers then does exactly that and looking at the video it's too hard to tell what exactly happened to henry's arm, but it looks like he does elbow Puyol.

Oh come on. Your golden boy dived and faked injury like a big girl, it's inexcusable but fortunately for him everyone else is at it as well. Trying to defend that is futile, just accept that he's not the paragon of fairplay that he suggested at the CL final whistle.

Do you even know what a dive is? A dive is to go down when there was no contact or minimal contact. Puyol caught him on the chest and it was as clear a foul you will see. However Henry pretended to hold his face when clearly no contact on his face had been made.

What he did was wrong and if this is the new attidude of Henry then I'll be very disappointed but I think it was more him trying to get his own back on Puyol who had given him a few bruises after the CL final.

Very enjoyable game, Spain were very slow to get back in the game after Ribery equalised. There was some very intense bit of play just before the first half which I would have liked to seen through into the second half.

The Frenchies played much better tonight, I was secretly hoping France would go through as I was loving a revenge match against Brazil. Hopefully Brazil will do the business this time round, but I'm not overly confident in that statement anymore.

Good to see Zidane and Ribery get a better grasp of the game today. :)

Good point, I retract my comment

Some pertinent words from Mr Henry:

"You have to be fair in football - you have to be honest and well done to you if you've won, but you have to win in a good way."

"And then Jose (Antonio Reyes) goes to him to get the ball and he just makes theatre of it and goes on the floor to lose time.

Over the last few months I've lost pretty much all respect for Thierry Henry. I'm sure he'll still amaze me with wonder goals next season, but as a player and ambassador for the game he's lost the charm he had.

He always struck me as very arrogant (Va va voom, is that enough etc.) but I could see past that as he's an absolutely phenomenal player. However, first he comes out and can't take losing the CL final on the chin, so slags off the decisions and Barca players - I was prepared to forgive that as he'd been kicked all over the pitch and probably stressed about the rumoured move etc. But after tonight I find it hard to connect what we saw with his whole 'Joga Bonito' attitude.

Part of football is learning to lose with some dignity. You don't have to smile about it or laugh it off, take it on the chin, say you were outplayed and move on to the next game. All the greatest players have to do it at some point, Henry should be no different and doesn't deserve to be excused for his skills.

Tonight he was obviously frustrated due to his own complete inability to stay onside (which he debated at every opportunity with the ref/linesman). Rather than try and take out his frustration Roo style by challenging for the ball, dropping deeper to influence the game or get some shots on target, he decided to join the worryingly long list of daisy sniffing retards who've been simulating all over the place this World Cup.

I never thought I'd be placing Henry in the same list with scum like Arjen Robben, but for a player of his stature, who thousands of kids around the world idolise, to hold his face like he's been elbowed to try and get another player sent off is an absolute disgrace. If that's what he'll be bringing to the Premiership next season I'd happily do without him, as we already have plenty of players like that *cough*Essien*cough*.

As for Spain, I'm gutted they went out, as other than Argentina they played some of the prettiest football in the group stages (Ukraine match being a prime example).

The reason I feel like despairing about this World Cup is that so far, all the teams who've played attacking football and had a go have been knocked out - Ghana, South Korea, Japan, Spain, Mexico etc etc. At this rate the final should be an absolute barrel of laughs of 0-0 for 120 minutes then 22 missed penalties followed by a sack race to decide the winner.

Interesting game...

France prove you can be in the grave and rotting but still able to resurrect themselves at the right time. But they'll hit a brick wall in the next game.....back to the grave I'm afraid ;)

Spain once again choke in the knockout stages of a major tournament. If I was Spanish, I'd have gone bald years ago from the frustration... :p

As for the unsporting behaviour in this cup by various players....I guess it depends on who you follow doesn't it? It's easy to turn a blind eye if its one of your own but scream blue murder if it isn't.

Personally I hate what I'm seeing in this World Cup. Gotta love the slogan they use for it though...."My game is fair play".....yeah right, lol
