Well Im surprised that there have been so few yellow cards for diving in this World Cup, even though it was meant to be one of the things they were gonna try and stamp out. a lot of referees have just given a free kick and nothing more - I really didnt think there was a grey area on this, if the free kicks been given cos youve dove then surely they have to present them with the yellow :confused:. Im just glad that at least in the Premiership it seems we are getting through to some of them, albeit it very slowly...

^ Agree. If only FIFA retrospectively punished players for diving and cheating. Imagine what would happen if Henry was banned for three games and missed the final. It would be a harsh lesson but it would no doubt make him think about his conduct in the future. If he decided it wasn't worth diving/cheating and stopped it would make the refs job far easier and would probably cut out a lot of the unfair red and yellow cards we've seen because he wouldn't be out to con the ref.

I agree wholeheartedly. Can anyone give a good reason why this should not be done? It would change the entire face of the world cup and wipe out any diving.

at least the spanish are out. there league is awful and so is there national side.

I think it was said at the start of it that they had to be 100% sure that it was a dive.

FIFA always say stupid things on the eve of tournaments.
 
Well as it is no secret about how boring and rubbish I find football - it did go rather mad last night here which I have to say meant I did feel I ought to watch the highlights and I can't deny I'm happy we beat the Spanish. However I still think we're not a very good team - definitely not good enough to beat Brazil or Argentina. Ah well it's a silly game anyway :p

Thoroughly enjoyed this match---Great to see France playing some good football once again ; ) feel sorry for Spain as they ought to have gone further this year, but, lots of clichés thrown out the window once again.
I wasn't pleased that Henry went down in the way that he did, but, payback can be brutal and Puyol cannot complain....Plus Zizou's reign is not over yet.
 
I thought it was a foul on Henry, but he certainly over reacted. Didn't Gerrard say something about diving and then dived. I didn't see half the comments about that on here as there are about Henry. Thats right Gerrards English..... :p

Sad for Cesc, pleased for Henry. Good to see Vieira hit some form.

Great game last night, bit gutted that the french frogs went through as i was hoping they would get pasted by the Spanish but as usual the Spanish always seem to falter when it matters the most.

Great goals by Ribery, Viera and a stunner from Zidane. Looks like they are hitting the right form at the right moment. Going to be a tough match with Brazil and i really dont know if the Brazilians will beat them:(, well not the way they have been playing lately especially if they play like they did against Ghana.

Oh well better luck next time for the spaniards, they have a young team and have plenty of talent.
