World of Warcraft: Classic

Another new eu realm has been added (opening tonight).

I'm still worried about queues on Shazzrah. I'm not fussed about queues for weeks or a month but in the long term like the original vanilla wow servers. There would be queues of hours when there was 800 waiting. There's likely to be 6k+ at least for a while.

You think it will be any different on the other servers?

Short term yes. Long term no. The people that sat in queues 10 years ago don't have the time or will power to sit in queues today. New players don't have the patience for queues at all.
After a few hour sat in queues for a few weeks a large chunk of players will just give up. They have many options now that they didn't have in classic. They can go try another server, go play retail (there sub allows access to 110 levels), or even just go play something else (there wasn't much mmo competition then, there is now). Add to all that the fact that a large chunk of the playerbase have know idea how hard and how much of a slog classic was compared to retail, allot will just sub for 1 month only.

I haven't started my sub yet so can't reserve a name yet but a quick question for anybody who is subbed. When it says that realms like Shazzarah are "full" does that mean that nobody can create new characters on there?

I created mine when it was showing full. You should be fine, it’s only when they show as locked you can’t create a toon on it

I'd imagine all the "casuals" are already rolling on anything but Shazzrah. It's all the organised guilds and countries that are on there. These are the players which are likely to stick around for the long haul. I would imagine they will open another server the day before/day of release and this is where all the tourists will roll (they would be silly to roll on a full realm). I also believe most of the pserver players have rolled on Shazz and they're not going anywhere.

It'll be a poo show on all servers for around a month I'm just worried about investing a month on my toon to decide I can't deal with long term queues and then have to reroll.

Of course, it could all be fine on Shazz in a month. No real way of knowing I guess.

The worrying thing, is that there is likely to be a 2nd wave of players sign up on Monday with new subscriptions, by which point it’ll be too late pretty much for them to release more servers prior to launch.
