World Snooker Championships

Stephen Hendry has just had a 147 break!

Yeah watched it when it was live :D

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_sports/snooker/8022722.stm (not the full thing, if you can see that make sure you do, the lead up that part was great)

It was actually really impressive tbh. He had to make up a lot of positions throughout it and the pink at the end was brilliant!

5-3 into the break he leads and I am hoping he keeps his form up going into the evening session because he is playing very well. His long pot success was sitting at 90% simply class

So in 365 days you have made over 200, 100+ breaks.

Hmmmm

Great break by Hendry I hope he goes all the way.

You're saying one century every 2 days isn't possible? You have no idea on the guy's skill level! If he's a top player who plays 4-5 hours a day, 15 minutes to make a century say, thats 16-20 chances a day at a century. When you're practising it's totally different to a match as well, so I can't see it impossible.

Just watched the Hendry 147 as I missed it earlier due to work. It shows that he still has the break building capability left in his locker!

Ive got my money (only being £3) on Maguire to win the title.

Watching football atm but checked the latest scores. Looks like Murphy has changed it around. He has a slight lead, still close and could go anyway yet.

Yeah 9-7 murphy :(

he did play well though, the morning session will be good though I'm sure!

I hope Hendry comes out firing on all cylinders tomorrow! :D

It's certainly possible, I had 3 in a row for the first time the other day, and i had 5 the day before that:eek: I sometimes practice with Cope and he's done a 5 hour session and had 9 tons, with back to back maximums included. And that's on a pro standard table! In practice everything in different, the pockets may be bigger, there is no pressure and the game is more free flowing. I just enjoy my snooker!

Is that in a lineup or in a match?
I'm not at all happy with my cue at the moment. There are so many little things I'd like to remove from my game. I frustrate myself and I'm a naturally angry person with myself and often react a little badly after missing a simple shot :p

It's in practice matches with various people, my highest in match is 127 which was some time ago. Snooker is such a hard game, I'm going through a rough patch with my technique at the minute, i seem to be applying unintentional side to certain shots for some reason:confused: If you have played the game as long as me though (6 years) then you'd expect to knock in tons every time you went in there...
You can get away with making big breaks in practice with a few faults in your technique, but as soon as you are in any pressure or match situation problems arise.

Used to love playing league snooker at my local club, not the best there by a long long way but it's all about having some fun isn't it.

Had the same BCE cue for 25 years, it cost about £110 back then which was anything but cheap......before BCE made cues for JJB etc lol. it has a 9mm tip but I put a 10 on it & undercut it, this is what the guy that did hendry's tips did a while back.

Either we have some players that are on the verge of breaking into the snooker tour here, or we have some people telling porky pies.

Just because people knock in tons in practice doesn't mean they are cut out for the professional game. If you don't believe me then PM me and we can arrange a game if you want. Failing that I'll try and stick a vid on youtube.

I would like to think that Hendry is still playing because of the "love of the game" & possibly the hope that he has another world champ win in him.

Mind you who would turn down £157k :D
