World Snooker Championships

Either we have some players that are on the verge of breaking into the snooker tour here, or we have some people telling porky pies.

One person, not several :p

To be honest it's easy to doubt but I'm not going to doubt this one. Would be good to see a vid though :)

Lol, Selby v Higgins goes down to a decider and it's been re-racked twice!

Wow, Higgins wins a cracking final frame after being 12-11 down. I'm glad of that, as talented as Selby is he isn't half a lucky **** sometimes.

can someone tell me what an each way bet is? ive got an each way bet on higgins, where does he have to be placed for me to get something

A lot of my mates had some great breaks, one of my drinking buddies knocked in a 130......when less than sober, his high break was 140ish as I remember. He doesn't even play now, I guess like most of us family comes along & the hours playing get cut to once a week or even less lol.

I was never a star player, I knocked in the odd 70 & a few 50's but to say that only pro's can do 140 breaks is being a bit naive imho, I've seen it done a good few times in practice & none of those blokes even went pro, I guess it's a tough life unless you can really earn the top end cash.

My high break now would be about 8.....if a red & black were over the pocket :D

D'oh, I fell asleep! The applause woke me up at the end so I just managed to see that Higgins had won. After the way he came back against Cope I've had him to win the tournament, though he did look shattered and then must be even more so after another tough match last night. I'll still go for Higgins though.

My highest break is 20. I used to play fortnightly about 10 years ago (when I made that 'high' break!), but found out recently that although I have sight in both eyes (one is much weaker), I only actually see with one eye at any one time. Would that be a disadvantage? I'm right-handed and it's the right eye that's dodgy.

As for the reasons why snooker isn't popular worldwide, surely it's just down to exposure. I think Wattana was the first top 5 Asian player (?), so perhaps he helped players like Fu to get into the sport, and it's all growing from there.

The World Championship is confirmed for The Crucible until 2014 now, and it has been stated that it's very unlikely to move to Asia due to the time difference.

Allen put up a good fight against Higgins, missed a simple blue to get himself right back in it though.

Dunno if any of you have heard of a MMORPG called Shot-Online, but a guy in my guild used to play professionally, he last played at the Crucible in 1991 but went out 10-8 in the first round.

It's brilliant. 4 in a row for Robertson now, 14-14. 2 big leads in both semis and both looked in big trouble.

Emotional roller-coaster, or what? Whoever wins it is going to have a hard time recovering in time for tomorrow at this rate. The question is, will Higgins be able to take advantage of that?

This...

could easily have been written by me! :)

It will be a disadvantage as the result is significantly impaired perception of distance. In all honesty though, it's probably not the biggest reason your high break is 20. :)

My left eye is much worse than my right and I'm left handed, can't say I notice it much but playing snooker and wearing glasses really is a bitch.

There's always the Dennis Taylor solution to that problem. :D

As for the match, the fat lady is tuning up. It's now Murphy's to lose (again).

I was just about to say she's about to be called out but what a poor shot from Murphy.

But a good recovery, and that is that. Bad luck Robertson, but I feel he'll be champion one day.
