i went there years ago. was beautiful (and i got my PADI there) however buildings and structures can and will be rebuilt, its the human cost which may be high and that is likely to be felt in the poorer areas not those working in the multimillion $ organisations.Im sure some people have been to this Sandals resort in Jamaica on this forum looks like it in the eye not good

I feel really selfish but part of my inheritance from my grandmother was a share of a pretty large house out in Montego Bay. Really hope it survives as I can't imagine the insurance being much help

Yeah, keeping an eye. In the news they said it may well be a Cat3 by the time it gets there but still not ideal.

Amazingly there were people driving and walking out and about not that long ago. Doubt there’ll be a tree or pole left standing in a few hours.

My youngest was in the eye of the storm for Beryl last year in Jamaica.
They were ordered to put the wardrobe in front of the door and bed/mattress in front of the window.
They were given food and drink to last 24 hours and told not to move.
Halfway through their window got smashed and it scared the poo out of them.
The thing they still talk about was the following day when mainly American and German tourists were ordering staff around like children when some of them hadn't got homes to go to.
"Why isn't the pool open?", "Why haven't you give me a knife and fork?" and so on.
Her and her husband then started to help the staff out of sympathy for a couple of days.
Their kindness was rewarded by their tour company who gave them a £1000 voucher.
