WORLD WEATHER THREAD

I wonder whether we are going to wake up and actually do something about the climate crisis before this becomes commonplace.

Will Jamaica even be left standing? It's devastating they are being hit so hard by the crisis that rich Westerners caused along with some of the most evil corporations on the face of the Earth (the fossil fuel companies).

They are getting some pretty rough weather already and it is still a bit off landfall, that said it has intensified quite quickly - sometimes it loses energy just as rapidly as it makes landfall under those circumstances.

I hope it will do this as happened recently with Florida, but you are rolling the dice at that point.
 
Moving very slowly too which isn’t great. Already looking pretty rough on the feeds, even the electricity poles seem to be moving in the wind. Can’t imagine much withstanding the storm.

We won't do anything until we're forced to, besides when it comes to changing habits it's already too late the damage has been done, best we can do is build better defences because we can't stop it

We can make it much less bad though. Exponential growth means exponentially worse if we just give up and there are no defences (adaptations) than can protect against that.

I feel really selfish but part of my inheritance from my grandmother was a share of a pretty large house out in Montego Bay. Really hope it survives as I can't imagine the insurance being much help :(

Probably got a get out clause, act of God, natural disaster etc. Good luck.

I can actually tell you this from experience, that unless you're insurance specifically states it covers natural disasters in that part of the world you are not covered.
I learned the hard way through an investment that went sour due to similar circumstances.
