Worrying

Seriously I'm a person who likes to worry and who thinks through all the possibilities in my mind first. Truth be told it doesn't help you it only hinders you. I've learnt to deal with it by pushing it out of my mind and focusing on the tasks in front of me. It might be small bits at a time like finishing a chapter or paragraph before a certain time but you will find as you complete the tasks the amount you have to worry about will reduce.

Nitefly gives some good advice. Worrying isn't going to get you anywhere it will only make you feel worse. Just stop worrying and start doing, you will feel better for it....

Goodluck OP :)

Mountain Dew/Red Bull/Coffee/Pro Plus and a library......

Students have been relying on it forever. Trust me. When work gets high, you cut sleep hours down to about 4-6 hours and live on caffeine :) it works. It works well...

Good advice though from Nite :)

As already said, time management is the key here. Construct a plan on how you are going to deal with this, break it down into segments which are SMART objectives - Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time framed. Bite sized chunks that you can get your head around. Write your plan down on paper so you can physically visualise it.

Sounds like nonsense and business speak psycho babble but it works. Managing your own time is the key to completing time critical assignments like this.

Definately do this, much better to be able to get up with the clear goal of getting certain parts of your overall project done that day than thinking oh I've got all of this to do in the next 5 weeks what should I do. Break it down into manageable realistic chunks as Draeger said.

Has anyone got any tips or advice on how to not worry as much?

Yes, stop worrying about the worrying. It's just a form of procrastination, you don't worry if you're busy working do you? How about imposing your own deadlines - e.g. "I'm not going bed until I've done this", you'll do it eventually :)

Be realistic about what you can do (anything is better than nothing yes?) and if you're really not in the zone, go for a walk, watch a film, then come back and start again. Don't forget though, you're not going bed until you've done it ;)

Oh, and obligatory tenuous link to a famous quote: Galileo called self-doubt "the father of all invention"

Some pretty amazing advice here guys cheers :D I guess I am worrying too much for no good reason. I just managed to get through an assignment in 1 hour because I was thinking too much and was not realizing what I actually needed to do.

Cheers again everyone :)

What a nice thread :) Guy asks reasonable question, lots of good advice.. guy comes back and takes the advice and thanks people for it.
