Worth buying an AW3423DWF or waiting for new monitors?

Hey all,

I'm considering buying the AW3423DWF since I've never really splashed out on a fancy monitor before and I'd like an Ultrawide.
Is it worth me going for this model (or any similar that you'd recommend?) or should I wait for the new Alienwares QD-OLEDs to release in January.
I've got an RTX 3070 so I should be fine with the 3440x1440 resolution.

Thanks.

Do we know for sure they will release a newer version in January? I’m in the same boat as you, if a new one is just around the corner I’d like to see what improvements are coming with that one!

I already have a 34" screen, which I like, but would ideally like a touch more vertical resolution, so I've ben assuming that my next upgrade would be to a 38" ultrawide. But then these OLEDs came out, which are really tempting. A 38" OLED would be ideal, but not sure how long it'll take for them to be released.

240Hz is way higher than the DWF, is that because they are newer models? Any news on what a 2024 DWF looks like spec wise?

As mentioned above I'd also like a 38" UW monitor. Though with two systems to play with I've been trying 16:9 displays from 32" to 42" and don't mid that format too.

The pixel response on an OLED can make a panel feel faster than it is on paper compared to an LCD panel. I'd say 240Hz is about to become the norm though so a current gen OLED at a sale price or wait to see what comes out early next year.

Unless I've missed something the only news so far has been about a 2560x1440 panel and a 4K panel releasing in January, There has been no information about an Alienware ultrawide revision so it's up to you.

The only confirmed model we know of is the

ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG34WCDM

Its a 34 inch 240hz 3440x1440 monitor

This monitor is due q1 2024 but its a w-OLED panel not QD-OLED

Asus has a 32 inch 4k 240hz as well and that one is a QD-OLED panel

And even then going from 165-to-240Hz isn't that big of a jump, plus no doubt they'll be charging a fair bit more money for it on release!! The DWF is a cracking buy when on sale for the specs it has imo
This. I'm not sure I could tell the difference and wouldn't be a major factor for me. I'm using the AW3423DW and it's just awesome, one of the biggest upgrades I've ever experienced.
