worth changing Opteron 146 to 3800?

Even if knocking down the Vcore did work, it's really only a temporary solution. The CPU should, obviously, be able to run at stock clock & volts whilst remaining at a reasonable temperature.

What did you knock the Vcore down to?

from 1.3600 to 1.3300 I think

I thought you said my cpu muli was locked, ive just changed it to 11x and in coretemp and cpu-z says its running at 2355mhz (11x214)

So whats the best cpu cooler to get? If poss I want 1 with a lever

edit: the temps are 6-7c cooler running at this speed in prime95, but its a rubbish speed.

The multi is upwards locked ;) Ie. You can't go higher than 11x, but can go down as much as you like.

The AC Freezer 64 Pro has done me very well for around £15, and works on the stock mounting bracket.

Just for your information if you plan on playing with undervolting a bit more, my 4400+ X2 will run 1.5Ghz on 1.1v. Still only a temporary measure though, I think a new HSF might be needed.

Changed it to 253x11 what it was on wit my fx55 cpu and the dam pc just powered off after about 5mins of running prime95, I hope the psu isnt on its way out too.
 
You sure both cores are in the center of the cpu??? cos when its idel, both are a nice 36 - 40c, but when you stress test it,, 1 core stay 62 - 65c mark but the other one goes to 70 75c mark. Or could I have a duff cpu???

Think I am going to try spreading the AS5 on the cpu so it completely covers it, before I buy a new heatsink. Cos the 1 core isnt to bad,, well 65c is bad but if I can get the other core cooler then 75c, is should bring the 65c core down abit too. Is there any softwere that will stress out a core at a time?
