i have my 2600k running at 4.9ghz although the volts are set to 1.47(don't mind this) watercooled and in the same loop i have 2 sli gtx470's.i have a 360 rad and a 240 rad in the loop run by a ddc 18w pump.now i have a spare ddc pump and wondered would i get better temps if i ran my cpu on it's own loop and set up another one for the 470's?any ideas, suggestions???

oh also,i'm running deionised water at the mo with silver kill coil.but after reading about the EK nickel problem i am changing to Thermochill EC6

my specs at the mo: 360 rad/240rad/ek multi option res/ddc 18w pump/2 ek full nickel 470 blocks/ek supreme hf full nickel cpu block

i'm getting temps of highest 74 on 100% load.was wondering if the 2 470's were bumping it up too much.would really like the cpu cooler than that as the volts are high

forgot to mention also the 470's are'nt overclocked yet.i want to clock them, theres no point in having all this gear and not clocking up.so that will add heat

thats high that are they thin rads?

what plate do you have in you cpu block have you tried reseating the block?

my gpus are not clocked and i dont get temps like that i get in the 60's tho

what fans do you have and which way are they facing?

got the plate that shipped in the block.both rads are thick one is a 240 EK XT can't remember the 360 one.i've recently reseated the block as i changed to ic diamond24 tim.i have 2 scythe kaze 1900 fans on the 240 and 3 F12 Arctic fans on the 360 on a fan controller.running the fans slow or max speed makes no difference really.as i said i thought running the cpu on it's own loop with the 240 rad would make it cooler???

i do have a Black Ice GT Stealth 240 rad if that would be better than the EK XT-

-flow path is res/pump,gpu's,360 rad,cpu,240 rad, back to pump

I run mine cpu first then to the gpu so my cpu will be a little cooler

Which way you got your fans. Need to sucking air from the out side of your case

were do you have your 240 out of interest. I have a haf 932

I also have push pull on the 360

The best change I ever made to my custom loop was changing the EK XT 360 Rad for a Thermochill Pa 120.3 - you'll notice the difference straight away if you've got temp monitoring like I have.

The EK rad only used to shave between 0.5 and 1 Degrees C off the heated water temp. Me Thermochill gives me a good 2 degrees (that's all not under load btw) ;)

This is what I am also considering. I presently run a 2600K at 4.8ghz @ 32c on a single loop rig with an 18w DDC. I've got a 6970, which will be getting a waterblock soon, and I'll soon go XFire with an identical board.

I thought that an XF+CPU setup would be too much for my existing RX360 rad and its 2000rpm 'silent' eagle fans.

You have two problems

1 is that 240 rad will not be doing anything i had one there and when i ran prime 95 i stopped the fans and temps didn't change one bit. Must be because it was not getting cool air

the other problem is you have your fans wrong way around the air in your case will be warm compared to the air out side your case so you need to be sucking air in.

yes,but then i'm sucking a load of dust into the fins???
i have ordered another ddc-xres 140 to set up dual loops.it's worth a try i think.would the 240 rad be enough for the 2 gtx470's? and the 360 on the cpu?

and what about my fans? are they ok or would others be better?recommendations?

Its true about the dust but the temps will be a lot better. I would put the 360 with the gpu

why don't you try rad rad cpu gpu gpu pump res if the two rad.s are before the cpu.

I know people say it makes no odds but i think it will make a little difference. That's how i have mine with good temps

Takes a few mins once a week to blow out the rads with canned air and a hoover on the other side to collect the dust.
If the flow rate is decent then u will see pretty much no difference in temps whatever order u run the loop.

i've decided to seperate the gpu's from the cpu and do dual loop with the 360 rad on the gpu's and the 240 rad on the cpu.now,i think i'll do push/pull on the 240 rad.the 360 is in the top of my hafx and the 240 is in the front, what direction would you say to put the fans, sucking in,or blowing out??much difference?

I would use both rads as intake. That case has that many holes in it you don't need to worry about flow of air in the case if cpu and gpu is cooled.

I have my rads push pull it will drop temps a little its not mega but every little helps
