Worth complaining to BBC? (Apple Promotion)

My mum has an iPad and as far as she's concerned, all tablets are iPads. She certainly wouldn't know who makes them.

As already said, it's become a generic name for a tablet computer.

Yeah it's just like Hoover for vacuum cleaner. I suppose if somebody got you an iPad then you may not know it's Apple but they're popular enough that I think most people understand who makes them.

I've had only one person out of many who have asked my advice not know it's Apple that makes the iPad.

Not isolated to the Beeb, but the one that gets my goat is "is it a PC or a laptop?" Well, they're both PCs right? Unless one of them is a Mac

Absolutely no point in complaining to the BBC as they do not speak to us plebs. You only have to look at the majority of the current standard of programs now transmitted by the BeeB, they have nothing but contempt for the viewing public. What's worse we have to pay for it.

Now of course you could cite examples like 'biro' being used as synonym for ball-point pen but that is something that has been in our vocabulary for so long it's too late to correct it.

Back when the Biro started becoming the common term for 'ball point pen' or 'writing instrument', I wonder if somebody wrote a letter of absolute disgust to all organisations who started calling it a Biro.

The only point of complaining would be to make yourself feel better. You'll get an automated email but I doubt anyone will actually read your complaint And I have no doubt that if they do read it they'll just have a bit of a laugh in the office and that will be it.
