Worth upgrading from fx55 to X2 4600??

If I can find a cheap x2 4600 for my 939 motherboard, is it worth upgading my fx55 clawhammer and try to match the same overclocking speeds with the x2 of 2.78? and would I notice a huge speed diff with the latest games?

At the moment I can change my cpu multi, but with the x2 you cant right, so how woukd I get 2.78?

I've just gone through a similare search for a S939 CPU and you wont find a "cheap" 4600 X2, even on a certain auction site they were selling in the 120 - 130 range:confused:
I dont fancy paying that money for a used chip that was probably OC even when they say they havne't

My opty 185 will be here tomorrow:D Any tips on getting my heatsink of the cpu, cos Im guessing it will be stuck cos its been on there almost 3yrs?

Don't try and pull it straight out. Twist it as you pull, should come off eventually!

Also might be worth running Prime95 for 10 minutes or so before you take the HSF off. That'll warm the CPU up and make the thermal compound go a bit softer.

Main thing is take your time, don't rush and end up pulling the CPU out of the socket because it's stuck to the bottom of the HSF. That can damage the socket as well as the CPU ;)

The temp is pretty cool to 32-36c idel with room temp of 27c
