Lol yes I was expecting him to say it was utter, utter garbage and he didn't :D

Yeah I saw this, the first thing I thought was that it was just a bad reaction to being absolutely blasted by his fans recently for thumbing up Far Cry New Dawn. The disabling of comments definitely makes it seem like it's connected to that... interesting that he's keeping the details to patreons and paypal supporters only :\

I can understand the thumb up, he said only as a co-op, ignore or laugh at the story, haven't seen all the comments though

Well, the thumb up was one thing, but there was a bit of backlash and then he made another video (now deleted) where he told all his critics that they were stupid. What people were really saying was that he has thumbed down games for less - much, much less in fact - and that thumbing this up just shows how much of a Far Cry fanboy he is. I don't disagree.

He's thumbed down games that he said were otherwise good for reasons such as being full price but containing micro-transactions, or being not much more than a re-skin of a previous game. He also thumbed down Dark Souls because he hated the controls and refused to play with a controller. That's fine, but then being calling people stupid when they expect you to treat other games this way is a bit silly really, hence the even larger amount of backlash.

He probably needs a break from it all to be honest, playing games too much and reviewing them? I can see that getting rather tiresome quickly.

I don't remember him having much of a break for ages.

He's deleted his twitter "@worthabuygames" too.

From the recent tweets sent to him it looks like he was getting a lot of stick over his Farcry review. Maybe he just can't handle criticism?

Remember when he had a lot of issues over the Witcher review, which he later removed...?
I also assumed that the removal of that FC follow up video, and the disabling of the comments, were related to similar issues.

Either way I wish him well.

Why can't people accept it's his view, I was surprised too and rather confused how it could be so much better than FC5 - but I watch his channel for his opinion. He said it was fun, didn't mean I wanted to buy it though as I hated FC5 outside of some generic gun play..

Then again if you go on social media and offer opinions, expect to get them back..

In that announcement he makes it out like he's disabled comments on all his videos, however actually it's only those released since his "Far Cry New Dawn Reveal Reaction" video. Make of that what you will.

Channel Update

I have disabled comments on recent videos, this is just temporary until people calm down and get civil.

More importantly the Metro and Anthem reviews will not be out as soon as expected as I made myself ill trying to get the Far cry review out in good time. I have to put my health before my job and at the moment it's not too good.

I am hopeful that I can find a solution to the problem and that WAB will continue the way it has for years but something has to change as it's not sustainable in it's current format. None of this has anything to do with the disabling of comments or the far cry videos, all that did was just **** me off, the real problem is workload vs reward, this has been a situation growing for about a year now and I think the fact that three AAA games dropping on the same weekend with no press keys was the straw that broke the camels back.

I won't **** any of you guys around, you deserve better than that, I will let you know with a detailed post very soon, also look out for any streams that may happen as I will be chatting in that too.

Thanks for your support

Mack

I find it amusing that only paid subscribers warrant an actual explanation!

It's clear that the lack of support from developers is affecting Mack, because his reviews are constantly delayed, which has a knock-on effect with his earnings. The problem is he perpetuates the idea that he's unbiased and will not succumb to being a corporate shill, but the result is no incentives, press keys, sponsors etc. You can't have your cake and eat it!

Personally, I think he's throwing a hissy-fit over the backlash regarding his recent Far Cry review. He even deactivated his Twitter account, which is just silly.

I laugh at his moans about not being sustainable, he's getting paid $3,000 a month off patreon to play games all day and give a 10 minute video on his opinion, but it's too little reward for the time spent ?

I watch his reviews as he does raise some interesting points that some other reviewers miss.

But he contradicts himself constantly and has such aggression towards others that if he can't take it back he's a complete mug.

He gets almost $3200 a month to play games and post a short video review, and this is the breaking point??

Patreon will eat up some of that but even so, he basically gets a living wage to play games at home and post the odd video. He should get some income from his youtube channel as well. He may have other sources of income too.

Fair enough if he has legit health issues but disabling his comments on his videos does seem to suggest that he couldn't take the heat.

He should simply ignore the people that disagree with him, because they will always exist. He is simply providing an opinion that is not biased by receiving incentives.

He explains on his Patreon that after deductions, he's left with enough to pay his bills, pension, taxes etc. Either way, it's got to be easier than a modest 9-5 job? I could understand if he had millions of subscribers, flew out to conventions, and churned out videos with high production values. The reality is he's small fry compared to critics like AngryJoe etc.
