Hi Guys

At the mo i have an ATI HD2600XT, as i never really used to play games on my machine, but I have recently got into COD4 and im looking at farcry2 and dead space, so looking to get a bit more graphics power. Do you think this:

8800GT 512mb is a worthy upgrade for the price, I dont really have anymore than £100 to spend, being close to christmas and all.

Any advice would be great

Thanks

£88 is too much for an 8800GT, I have one so I'm not knocking the card itself

just a little too close to 4850 in terms of price, my advice is either shop around for an 8800 GT but pay no more than £70 incl del or go for a 4850 which you can pick up for around £100-110

*edit* just go for this here - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BG-344-AS&groupid=595&catid=683&subcat=&name=**B%20Grade**%20Asus%20GeForce%20EN8800%20GT%20512MB%20GDDR3%20HDTV/Dual%20DVI%20(PCI-Expre%20(GX-142-AS)

job done and cash safely in pocket :D

tbh if you have £100 then the gains you would see from putting a few more quid onto a 4850 would be so much more worth it especially as a long term investment

[also nice saxo]

Yeah, you want an 8800GT or 370. If you have the money to stretch to a 4850 then do it. but OcUK were seelling a new 3870 at £70. Sold out now though im afraid.

Is the extra for a 4850 over the b-grade 8800gt worth it? My current spec is

E2160 @ 3.0ghz
2GB DDR2 800 mem
XFX nForce 650i Ultra mobo
HD2600XT
vista 32bit

sorry for all the questions, im a bit of a noob when it comes to this stuff

You've got an SLI board. Buy a cheap second hand 8800GT for £60 now, put the other £40 you would have spent on a 4850 to one side.. Then, find £20 on the floor, combine with previous £40, buy a second 8800GT for SLI. Winnah :)

Unfortunatley my boards not SLi

Awh nips, just noticed what board it was. I see nvidia chipset and assume SLI!

Still, for £60 an 8800GT is low power, low noise and generally one bloody good card. If you're on that much of a budget i would find it hard to justify almost double for a 4850.
