A Samsung Syncmaster 913B monitor and how good would the picture be?

Currently no HDTV, so in meantime if I fancy a next gen console id play it using the monitor (if possible) cheers.

Also, is 279 for console plus 2 games worthy?

Thanks

Theres no headset socket on the 360. Using a VGA cable you'll need a seperate sound device. The 360 has digital sound output or the VGA cable has anaolgue connections for sound.

hmmm

so i will have no sound unless i also invest in some speakers.....

though im happy that my monitor will give me quality 360 graphics

If you have an amp for your cd player or radio or something you can use that, i used to do that. Now i have it hooked up to my logitech Z5500's

Sorry to hijack, but I noticed u said the 360 needs to go to something else first b4 speakers? Would it hook up to my pc ok, and play through my PC sound?

im getting myself confused here... would the live headset provide me with sound? or do i have to get a speaker system?

also what ports do the 360 use for sound?

The headset only provides you with voice chat (and some sounds in a few games) you do need speakers, for 360 you can either use Optical or Phono jacks

Yes, by using the 'line in' port, however you would be using the Red and White cables, i.e. R/L, so you won't get 5.1 audio. Optical is what would be needed for that.

that puts me off then - i prefer headset for sound over speakers :(

why didnt they think of this when building ffs - not everyone wants a surround sound system, im happy having a headset on to listen to when playing

Ah cool, I've got a sterio that is hooked up to my PC, its got a phono to two fat ones, red n white, they go into the back of my speakers. Would they work with the 360, and link it up to my speakers?

well i can plug my headset into my Z5500 control centre to play 360 with a headset if i want to, but theres no option to output straight to headset afaik, i dont think you can do that with any console

The 360 VGA cable has the red and white ones on it, i used to plug these into my amplifiers auxiliary port which let me use the speakers the amp was connected to for sound. Is that what you're asking?
