Would you accept a new car with issues?

Just got off the phone with the dealer. Apparently they're fixing the bonnet chips without a respray (issues are in the lacquer). For the bodywork, it's a clip that has misaligned. The way he described it was that it must have had a 'knock' at some point that put it off.

Clearly I wasn't happy with a brand new car having a 'knock' and told him I don't want it bank. I'll pop in when it's ready and discuss with him, hopefully tomorrow.

Don't accept the lemon...

Problem with refusing the car, is we've then got another 2+ month wait for another one to be built (whether it's the same car or another). We need the car every day.

I guess I'll have to stipulate they give us a suitable courtesy car for 2 months.

Courtesy car?

I know its a pain and annoying because you just want the new car but if you're spending that much I'd 100% demand a new build or I'd look at something else like a BMW that suits your needs. Land Rover reliability, build quality, dealerships and warranty are all absolute crap.

Yep, get that - but what do we drive for the next couple of months whilst they build the car?

What are they doing about the interior?

In terms of the bady panel a misaligned clip sounds about right probably during when it was put together though. not a knock. a knock would have done substantially more damage than misaligned a clip. unless of course the build quality is crap. and that is where i am going with this.

TATA own JLR. As a result all of their cars are built cheap. There is a reason why every 10 cars on the roads 1 of them are from JLR these days. You can lease a range rover for less than £300 a month (brand new).

I've been in the Jag F Pace. Engine sounds horrific and underpowered. Not the jag of old. The engine should be double the size it is for starters.

Yep, cheap but expensive :/

It's not like the old days when they were hand built works of art (E-type). They are mass produced products now and corners get shaved to maximize profits.

Reject it 100%.

Unfortunately I haven't heard many good things about JLR products, though they do seem popular. I had a brand new Vogue SE for a few days and the panoramic roof was rattling and creaking like mad.

Have you entered into a contract yet? I'd push for a courtesy vehicle or go elsewhere.
Yep, we already VT'd our old car and signed the paperwork for this one before we could drive it away. Didn't really have much option as we needed the car.

I totally agree we need to decline the car, I just need to figure out the practicalities of a stopgap big enough for a couple of kids/pushchair etc.

You get some which seem well assembled, but others are horrific. I don't think they have the consistency of the Germans or OCD of the Japs.

You signed for it before or after you'd seen the defects?
