Would You Buy An Apple Gaming Console?

If they did then i can see them selling poo loads due to them being who they are.

I only have an ipod for Nike+:D

Everyone laughed when Sony announced that they would be making a console. No-one laughs now. Everyone laughed when Microsoft announced that they would be making a console. No-one laughs now...

I don't think Apple would make a console though. Apple have a lot of idiotic shareholders who buy/dump their stock on the slightest hint of a rumour. Creating a console requires a lot of upfront investment that may or may not be recuperated. It's a big risk and Apple's resources are already stretched.

it would all boil down to whether they had the games or not, though i would imagine their console (if they ever made one) would be more like the wii than ps3/360 so that would put me off a bit. i don't think theres room for 4 players in the console market either

If it was reasonably priced (I doubt that somehow... the Apple part maybe?) and had games then I don't see why not.

Oh, and if looked anything like that Bin in the picture on that site... then definitely not.

I don't want a bin with controllers plugged into it next to my TV thank you very much!

TBQFH we don't need another console.

can't say I would but I'd like to see any extra competition in the market

Apple would surely have to go for the WII users, and they arn't likely to leave the WII, it just wouldn't make business sense IMO

It would never happen. Remember the Pippen?

If it were to happen it would be expensive but with that expense it would be good. But imo it wouldn't sell.

If it had good enough games to warrant purchasing and bought something new to the table then yes, same as any other console.

Though saying that 3 competitor consoles is enough as it is in my opinion.
Any more would be a bad thing for the consumers.

I would buy if good games were to come out on it and it had better graphics then 360 and ps3. Also it cant be a crazy price like the ps3 which puts me off. £200 maximum!

The 360 Premium was a lot more than £200 at launch though, it's only because it's been out so long that it's come down in price.

Heck it's not like that PS3 was the first expensive console though. The Megadrive was around £190 at launch, the PS1 was £299 as was the PS2.

The more a console does, the better it does it the more we're going to pay unfortunately.

The wishlists for what people want consoles to do is ever growing, and we're ending up with consoles rivalling (or bettering) the average home users PC.

Not a chance, i can imagine the spin jobs would pull out of his arse to promote it.

"OOH ITS THINNER THEREFORE ITS BETTER WOOWOOO"

It'll never happen purely because apple have next to no experience with the games market. Both Sony and Nintendo have their own developers for the majority of their exclusives and publish many games for their respective consoles, Microsoft have published games for many years and have a fat wallet to pay off developers for exclusives. Apple have none of these, they haven't published a big game in years (or ever maybe?), they don't have any games developers and while they have a rather sizable bank account it is nothing compared to the gargantuan funds Microsoft have access to and utilized in order to get their foot into the console market.

I don't see any new competitors coming into the console market for many years to come, it is highly competitive to the point where i think only Microsoft could have pulled off what they have in this and the previous 'generation' due to being the richest software company in the world (by a long way).

Replace Sony with Sega and Apple with Sony.

The thing is the console market was nowhere near as gargantuan then as it is now. The cost of developing games and the amount of consoles bought by consumers were a mere fraction of what they are now and therefor the amount of experience and money required to get your foot in the door has grown significantly. Just compare the costs between Sony getting into the console market and Microsoft, iirc Microsoft are still paying off their losses now!
