Would you complain or my own fault?

Went to the supermarket yesterday to get some food for today and Easter Sunday. Looked just now and one thing I bought was use by yesterday (was never going to use yesterday as was at a food event in the afternoon) and the other is use by today.

Neither item was discounted. Obviously I haven’t checked the dates properly and I can still eat one of the items today.

Would you complain or should I just suck it up?

Edit - Reader, it was my fault.

Edit 2 - Domino’s was actually open on Easter Sunday so I didn’t go hungry.

I've eaten food 4-5 days passed its date... Not once have I been ill..

And discount it to what? 30p off it's RRP?

a lot of faf for not much gain imo.

Technically they have not done anything wrong so they don't owe you anything. It is more on you for not checking the dates.

However if you went back with the receipt, they likely would just swap them out as a goodwill gesture.

I'd just eat it, there's no issue.
Defo no case for a complaint, they sold valid items.
I agree that stuff on sale should at least have a few days on it, but the law doesn't care.

No complaints. Occasionally I make the same mistake, not checking the date, and that’s on me. I bought a meat feast pizza from Aldi yesterday, it’s really nice, and I didn’t check the date which is today so I’ll have it tomorrow.

Not got a leg to stand on really. Also lesson learned to always check the dates on stuff - unless you're planning on eating it that day it's always worth checking. I've actually come across stuff that's been out of date and has been missed this way.

I was gonna say, not that I'm hating on Aldi I generally like them, but you gotta watch them they are buggers for that.

Not a leg to stand on!

Have to be more careful with "Use by" dates than best before although even with "Use by" i'd use common sense, if it smells ok, and looks ok, then i'd eat it even if a few days out of "Use by" date.

However "Best before" does my nut.. i've eatin stuff months past "Best before" and it's 100% fine, it's a total con..

That? No. Twas in date when you bought it.

Unless it was a home delivery, that's a different matter.

But ready meals, you'll probably be fine to eat them even if you found them in a nuclear wasteland.
