Would you game on a gaming laptop?

I have gamed pretty much exclusively on a laptop for 4+years, i find it very comfortable, and I actually like the keyboards. I use a razer naga to help with certain games.

I have a main pc, but thats only used for CAD etc for working.

I use a laptop as it means i can sit on the sofa with my GF and still be able to chat etc with her while I'm gaming.

I may be taking the plunge soon... It certainly isn't easy and it feels like I'm going against everything I've believed in with desktops for gaming! I do prefer laptops though for the flexibility to move around, etc.

Tried this before when we had a flat but didn't like it. Ended up converting the box room into a little gaming room. Now we've moved house the wife is happy that I'm on the middle floor playing games (daughter asleep on the top floor) and wife downstairs with the telly to herself!

I just make a point of popping down for a cup of tea after a couple of hours, suits us both as we're always together when our daughter is awake anyway. If however we weren't parents I'm not sure I could spend 6 hours on saturday/sunday playing MMOs like I use to.. I just don't think I'd want to anyway, wife is "more fun" ;)

Desktop all the way, can't see me ever being downsized/downpowered to a laptop.

Lmao at some of the blokes in this thread who game on laptops because their Mrs won't let them have a desktop!:D Grow a pair you ****ing saps!:p

Desktop all the way unless travelling with work then just the work laptop to run some indie games. The wife used to moan loads about me disappearing off to play games in my room, so I cut down my gaming and after making her sit through many episodes of Stargate or similar programmes she is now happy when I bugger off to my room :)

I can only imagine true gaming laptops are very expensive, very loud and extremely hot.

I would only buy one if I was a doing a degree in another country as a gaming desktop is too big to bring along.

Cheaper than you think tbh. AMD APUs can actually run most games on med settings, prime example being the HP DV6(z) - see Notebook Check forums. As with heat and noise, that's a tradeoff of power in a small chassis. ITX gaming systems face the same problems of trying to dissipate lots of heat without making too much noise.

I bought one a while back because I had to travel a a lot for work and it was okay as long as i didn't want to play anything at max graphics settings. It can't imagine the point of replacing a pc with one though - they will cost much more for a far lower spec, take up almost as much space with an anyway near adequate keyboard and mouse plugged in and you pretty much have to replace the whole thing when any one part of it is outdated or broken.
