Would you get rid of the person in the background?

I'm currently putting together another Demo album and getting our Wedding portfolio updated. This shot is actually from my wedding taken by my business partner.
We do aim to lean over to the journalistic kind of style as opposed to the more planned/set up, traditional wedding photos.

For me, I'd leave the wedding organiser in the shot opening up the pod for us. She was there on the day, we were walking down the steps to go and sit in the pod. She's part of the day and photo as far as I'm concerned. It's the same principle as taking a photo of the bride getting ready in her room and a River Island or Next bag of clothes being on the bed or floor.

However, the wife totally disagrees as she likes everything to be perfect.

If the woman was just walking around in the background I would probably think about editing her out as she has no purpose being there and it doesn't tell a story.

Here's the photo, be interesting to see what you guys think :

first I was remove , then I looked a bit more and think she should be left in. It gives the image some sort of context - your going somewhere. Without her I think it will just come across as quite a sterile image.

Does she want the cows removed aswell??!?

I'd remove her & the bubble thing & put a statue there, Sphere/bubble thing looks weird.

I'm kind of unsure now. It's not one of my favourite shots in the album and now the doubts in my mind. The only reason its cropped so heavily is because of the album size. I have got a reserve page to go in instead but just wanted to get some different opinions on this. Ive had about 10 so far and at work its pretty much split 50/50.

I agree on the photo having purpose as it gives something to be walking towards.

With the pod and the person there for me it would be a shot in the bin as it really doesn't say much about the day and the pod and person spoil it as a nice scene with the bride and groom walking into it. Agree ic could use a little more breathing space to set the bride and groom in the scene as well.

EDIT - Just scene the edit I think that is already a better shot and with a full edit has the potential to be realy nice, for the brife and groom it will now remind tham of the beautifull surroundings they got married in.

The groom looks a bit awkward.

Thats pretty much standard for a groom isn't it?

I'd leave her in, it's a 'filler' type shot in that it's not at a critical point in the day, it's memories of going to the pod and the wedding planner organising things ahead. I don't mean to sound like an arse but it's not a particularly strong shot (although the view is nice) in that it's not something like the couple embraced at sunset with an amazing landscape behind and then somehow the wedding planner just wandered in to the corner of it. In that case I'd bring myself to remove her as she's adding nothing to the photo and only detracting but in this case I'd definitely leave her.

No thats fine. It's certainly not an album must have. I have a replacement page ready to go in I was just trying to get a nice flow from the previous page and this stage of the day fitted in well.

I only asked because out of the whole 40 pages in the album this was the only shot that seemed to cause such a split to everybody I asked and found it quite interesting.

I'd be opening up the shot first by not cropping it so heavily, feels pretty claustophobic almost.

Agreed with that, the cropping to a strange aspect ratio in the first photo makes it seem really odd.

I'm not really convinced its a particularly good photo to be honest. As part of an overall journalistic style of photos telling the story of the day, I suppose it may play a part. As an image on its own, I certainly wouldn't be wanting a print of it.

Infact, all I really want to know from the photos is what the hell a wedding pod is?

Oh its, certainly not a print. It was part of a sequence of 3-4 pages so not a vital or killer shot by any means.

I don't really know, its just a pod with some seats inside. Didn't particularly like it and you can't really get any good shots inside so not sure of its purpose.

So its like a pop up thing that the Wedding Planner makes up for the couple to sit in to have some photos taken?

They're what wedding planners use to travel between weddings... You never wondered how they do that? If your wedding planner shows up in a grandfather clock, expect trouble.
