Would you go from a 6600GT to a 7300GT (DDR3)

Pretty much as title, although would modding my mobo and getting a 2nd 6600GT be a better option?

My bday soon and the other half is giving me 70 notes so my options are a bit limited


Ive consulted the vga charts at toms but they dont have the ddr3 version of the 7300

i posted the benchmarks here before showing a 7600gs vs 6600gt and the 7600gs wins all the time. and for the price its a decent upgrade and you can sell the old 6600gt on after.

7300gt is around the same as a 7600gs but has less fillrate due to lower number of pipes but more memory bandwidth due to faster ram. in the end they work out the be equal on performance but check the review out at guru3d.com on the 7300gt.

forgot to add the price of the 7300gt is very cheapo on this week only so it could be the better deal.

Hardly seems worth it - the 7300GT isn't really that much quicker than the 6600GT. A 7600GT would be a better one to go for, else you might end up being disappointed.

if you got an sli board, get another 6600GT second hand for 50 sheets and get good performance boost for a little cash

dunno but looks to me like the 7600gs is a lot better than the 6600gt.

If it helps i used to have a 6600gt 128meg ddr3 and have 'downgraded' to a 7300gt 256meg ddr3 and all i can say is that it blows my old card away. Battlefield2 can handle more options for sure, then i bought another for s**ts and giggles and i can run all options at full plus all the antialiasing etc .

So yes and dont believe all those tables ,you can overclock a good 7300gt into 7600gt territory without much hassle.

But shhh dont tell everyone , or there all want one or two

Agreed just get a 7300 GT and clock it to 7600 GT speeds make sure it has DDR 3 memory.
