Would you RMA this?

Doesn't sound normal to me, my GT's on auto fan speed (29% or whatever it is), and underload goes to about 85 and ive never had any probs, runs fine.

I think I'm going to RMA. I think its quite perculiar when my friend has exactly the same card as me (POV) and his plays all games without altering any fan speeds yet mine is unstable. I'm not happy with it. So I'm looking for a cheap PCI-E card to replace it during the RMA period.

I can replace this card with either another Point of View, Leadtek.

Or I can for another £15-20 afford to get a 512MB GTS.

What should I do folks?

Replace it or get a GTS, it is NOT normal for the card to be locking up and unstable under automatic control, I am overclocked at 700/1800/1000 and I play every game I have with it left on auto and I never ever get lockups or artifacts. It is very stupid that people are even thinking its normal for any card to lockup or be unstable in any way with the stock cooler...

Obviously it should be RMAd, if it was 'normal' as some people put it, how would the average PC user ever be able to run a 8800GT? If it is a requirement of the card to modify the fan speeds through rivatuner, how many PC users will actually know how to do this or even if it's possible?

If it doesn't work as it should have out of the box, it is faulty and should be returned.

Personally i would just go for the GT, the performance difference between it and the GTS is negligible and apparently the cooler with the larger fan that the Leadtek 8800GT boasts is in fact better at cooling than the dual slot cooler on the 8800GTS. I've got the leadtek, at stock the cooler didnt let the card go above 75C, i've overclocked it and set up some fan profiles in rivatuner and now it never goes above 70C.

I've checked out the performance difference with the 8800GTS G92 over the 8800GT and its not worth the money as far as I can see so I will ask for a 8800GT replacement. I think I will ask for the Leadtek instead of the POV again.

Which version of the Leadtek has the better cooler? Or does it come as standard now?

I got my Leadtek recently, if you order one from here I'm sure you will get the larger cooler. Mine had no problems, but as I say the bios flash gave a good improvement in temps so it was still a bit hot on the bigger cooler, but ran without problems.

Lol @ the people saying it's "normal", sure when I buy things I expect them to be broken or not function correctly, if it works it's just a bonus .

I'm thinking about ordering one of these, as noted before it actually says in the description on the site that it comes with the new cooler. So I'd be a tad peeved if I received an old one and would waste no time in sending it back.

@ xen_ what did you use to flash your bios, the Leadtek utility or something else like nVFlash?

Just had a response from POV. I contacted them due to the problems I'd been having. Remember that on the website it states that altering the fan speed voids warranty...

The card is created for the temps what is produce , and have to handle with it , When you have problems, please tell me what problems

You are able to increase the Fanspeed – with Rivatuner http://downloads.guru3d.com/downloadget.php?id=163&file=5&evp=2d213e528fb556c354432a3976bff55a .

English speak is ours not good. Fans with Rivatuner adjust you must.

Starting to sound like a chinese yoda if you ask me!

RMA, get the Leadtek one like mine :)

Last week, from here, and it came with a 92mm instead of 80mm (I think) fan. Seems quiet enough, and has given a 20% boost over the double slot 8800 GTS 640 MB card I was using.

The passive heatsink with maybe a 120mm fan strapped to it could be good as well though :)

Nice one buddy. My RMA is with another company unfortunately so, I'll just have to see what happens. But I will ask for a Leadtek I think. I was tempted to go for a GTS G92 but the performance difference isn't worth the money I don't think.

Yeah, me too. I was thinking GTS, but it was just too much for a small upgrade. I think second hand there will be little difference between the GT and the GTS in 6 months time.
