Would you watch a public execution?

I think it's wrong and even a bit sick that they would do such a thing. Surely they've got justice through the courts.

It's about revenge in America, watching them die. there's even a lot of support to not change the method of execution to a humane system as they think they should suffer.

of course it is. emotion and law should never come together. Justice has been done their is no logical need for people to watch it.

Indeed, one of the primary western cultural traits is the separation of the affective and cognitive domains when dealing with crime.

How much money it would cost and the difference should not be considered a factor when talking about taking a life (no matter how worthy or worthless you deem that life to be).

Well insurance companies have John Doe on air flights as about $37K each.

I remember reading it was about 66K per annum for prison storage of offenders.

I think that courts should have a grade "without doubt" that goes beyond "proof beyond reasonable doubt" that effectively means the individual is locked up indefinitely with a strict military regime without the niceties. In short they disappear - what happens behind the scene isn't up to public scrutiny.
Question is would you give the government the power to make people disappear legally?

the execution of anyone shouldnt be glorified. the death of someone shouldnt be celebrated no matter what they have done because that person was moulded into what they were over time. an execution should be done away from the public, not for kids and adults to see - its backwards. Society is barbaric enough as it is without giving them to show hostility to something they know nothing about. Its undignified.

I would happily watch but why would I unless it affected me directly somehow?

I might be a bit different to most but seems a bit silly to go for the sake of it, compared to some things I have seen/witnessed a hanging is small time.

The human race is flawed, we are not perfect, we make mistakes. Evident from years of wrongful imprisonment cases and injustice around the world, how can you truly be confident in a decision to take someones life?

We should never have that right, so no.

It's a long held dogma that life is precious bla bla bla...some people deserve to die as punishment. There are clear cut cases when death can be prescribed.
