Dunno if anybody else as posted this, but Blizz are gonna do a annual pass for WoW, you buy 12months of sub and you get Diablo 3, a mount and beta access to the next WoW expansion, now while I see this as a good deal, it makes me wonder if there slightly worried by SWTOR and are trying to keep as many subs as possible

Also before anybody says it, no I'm not flaming Blizz for doing this, in fact all the MMO's should give you stuff like this for 12month+ subs

If i buy the 12months today, do i get diablo 3 the day its released? Or after the 12months are done?

The way I'm reading it is you get it day of release, however you can't cancel your sub until the 12months are up

I quit WoW at the start of the year, but this deal has dragged me back in.

A years subscription, free sparkle pony, expansion beta access and a copy of D3. Can't complain about that.

Haha same, and by looks of the next expansion there finally taking WoW in a new fresh direction (though I'm getting tired of reading all the comments on WoW forums on how the Panda's are stupid :( ), also D3 is on my account now :D

I was worried about the free copy of Diablo 3 as I wanted to get the Collecters Edition. But it says if you get that and add it to your account when you've already got it free through the pass, they give you 4 months WoW sub for free to compensate you.

I dont think you can ask for much more than that. I've signed up. For people who already planned to pay Wow sub for the next 12 months anyway, its win win!

I might have to take up this offer, I already have diablo pre-ordered and always go back to wow for at least 3 months when the expansions are released

*holds up 6 months clean chip*

*flips it into the bin*

****ing Blizz :(

Haha thought the same thing when i re-subbed

Also works out around £4.88 a month on the 1 month sub plan (I'm taking into account £30 for D3, dunno how much mount is worth), so not a lot to lose even if I only play a few hours a week

pfft wow people subscribe and never play it , thats how blizard make so much money..

i heard they lost 500k users this year to facebook... because all half the subscribers do is login to chat anyway lol

And this adds to the discussion how?, if your not interested in the game, why post in a thread about said game

Erm, at first glance I thought that Panda race was a joke, guess not. :p

Decent deal for the yearly pass I would say for those who would have been paying anyway, but definitely reeks of concern for SWTOR.

You'll be able to download and play Diablo III as soon as it's available and once you complete the one-year term, it's yours to keep, even if you cancel your subscription. Tyrael's Charger will be available with Patch 4.3, and beta access will go live with the beta launch.

Unless they mean you can play it as soon as it's out, and they'll strip your account of it?

Just remember its a 12 month contract, your pretty much bound to it and can't pull out

The logic behind them doing this is to retain subscriptions leading up to the new expansion... not really big on WoW but in my experience it is common for players to drop off/unsubscribe service before a big add on

With concern to SWTOR there is a half full half empty glass approach

One might look at it as concern for SWTOR
Another might look at it as concern for WoW

Its not a case of WoW / Blizzard vs _______.

A more accurate term would be "Pay to Play" vs "Free to Play" if you give it some proper thought. We're not just talking about "niche" games... many previously p2p games have enjoyed renewed success under the free to play model

Nobody will directly compete against the likes of WoW. People just eventually decide to change on their own and try something different... I'm suprised nobody mentions guildwars 2 because ontop of an already huge fanbase from their original franchise, a lot of people are watching it

To be fair I would forgive what I feel isn't a great direction they are taking if they gave the old TBC/ wrath zones the TLC they gave the vanilla zones. Would make a full play through massively appealing!
