WoW- Any point in beginning?

warcraftrealms is NOT accurate, for example on Darkmoon Faire the horde pop is a lot more than it shows on there.

Indeed. My realm isn't even on there
The class breakdown is pretty much 100% correct though, unfortunately. Sick of the sight of rets and DKs.

Anything <70 is just going to be people power-levelling though. And with the increased levelling rate meaning you'll have far more quests than you need to 'ding' I wouldn't expect too much "LFG" being shouted in the lower orders.

Shame, really, as 1-60 is by far the most fun part of the whole game. Outland is freaking terrible.
Im power leveled one or two characters recently and i do disagree.
I still find a tonne of new players, obviously judged on how they play and interact etc.
I actually loved BC, a lot better than 90% of wotlk, hellsfire > Nagrand and your ready for wotlk anyway.

If you like RPG's its defintely worth a shot..Still the smoothest and cleanest gameplay to date in MMO's imo.

I am looking forward to the new expansion, trying to resist playing now as i know I'll just get bored after 10 mins and it will be a waste of £10.

Two questions from an ex-WoW player (quit at end of 2008):

- When is Cataclysm released?
- Will there be new servers?

I wouldn't mind restarting if I could join an all-new server and be on the same sort of level as everyone else!

Unfortunatly that's gone out the window since TBC/LK , cross sever BG and LFG aswell as x-sever pug raiding in Cata i belive. So even if you started on a brand new sever, you would still get higher/better geared people through the cross sever PvP/Dugeon finders.

No idea about severs, but its looking like a winter release like TBC/LK afaik :)

Unless your committed to raiding or arena your toon will always be inferior and the playerbase will not consider you for anything, yeah theres plenty of stuff a casual can do to obtain gear and they all moan you can get epics easily but the fact remains you will still suck.
get friends get a good guild commit more time to it and the game is brilliant otherwise forget it.

I have played this game since the start and have been a hardcore raider since MC. Finally I have managed to quit raiding which for me personally was damn hard but feels good to have free time again. Its a great game imo but i can't control my time on it so have to quit or i end up raiding 6 nights a week. I am looking forward to cataclysm will level through that I am interested in the archaeology system but im steering clear from hardcore raiding from now!

In regards to the OP the smaller amount of experience you need to level and the higher exp gains you get while playing means you will level MUCH faster than you did originally. And if dungeons r your thing you will be laughing with the LFG system. I would personally level now as cataclysm is due to radically change the Azeroth and the Eastern Kingdoms leading to much smaller leveling zones!

Not at all, i don't do raids or arenas as i don't have the time but i still enjoy the game. I don't agree about the gear, Dungeon and BG epics still mean you're a competitive player, yes in PvP i'll lose a 1v1 fight against a player specced out in Arena epics, but that's the point of gear scaling...anyway the point is to not get into a 1v1 fight, always have some backup and a single Arena geared player won't stand a very good chance against 2-3 guys in BG epics.

Right reactivated my old account so A level 26 mage on nagrand and an 18 Warrior on Emerald Dream.

Anyone on those servers want to help a total noob lol. I got shouted at when I tried to do a dungeon..first for hitting them too much then for not enough lol. I have no clue what im doing but I did manage to learn to ride a horse \0/

If you have a level 26 and a level 18, I don't think you can ride a horse yet. Back in 'my days', you had to be level 40, but it got reduced to level 30 last year. Unless I've missed something and the level limit got lowered even more.

Yup got my horse says level 20 now and then the next one up is at level 40. Got the horse for my mage which is level 26

Slightly on a tangent...

Does anyone know how to force WoW to update without logging in? I'm sure it used to update as soon as you clicked the EXE, but now it takes me into the game to the login screen.
I don't want to sub yet, as I wont be playing for a week or so, I just wanted to patch everything ready...

I can find "full" manual updates from the WotLK install, but unfortuantely my WotLK disk isn't working, so I'm only as far as the BC installer disks (v2.0) and I can't find any updaters from there onwards...

Alternatively its the full 7.5gb download :/

Alliance or horde? I've got some 80's on alliance side of nagrand... but the servers pretty weak sauce TBH.:p
