WOW Cata re-roller guild interest

Ok, probably going to regret this, but after being WOW dry for over a year, my last kill being Kel'thuzad in December 2008, I'm being pulled back in.
Looking at all the Cata news is really getting my interest back, and I would like to start again from scratch.

I've seen a few other guys on the forums whispering about this, and wondered what the chances would be of all rolling the same server/faction and getting together on vent/mumble, having a few too many beers and leveling up as near as possible with each other and hitting 85 as a strong 10man raid team.

Now I'm a thirty-something year old guy and have 2 kids and a wife that used to be one of the most addicted wow players I've met.. but now like an ex-smoker she borders on hating the game.
At the start of TBC I formed and run a pretty successful raiding guild that started raiding at slightly later times in the evening to accommodate getting the kids in to bed and the wife in front of the TV, having a drink and something to eat after work before sitting in front of the PC rather than eating toast in one hand whilst flying to an instance. Looking at doing something similar here (although I'm not in a position with time available to run a full fledged raiding guild like I used to)

So if anyone has any interest in this let me know.

Looks like there is a fair bit of interest already. Looking forward to this

I'd be interested, but I'd much prefer to roll on a fresh server, if they release some to coincide with cataclysm

If they do roll out some new servers with the Cata release, I will be tempted very much to look in to it. Rolling on an already established server in an expac is always terrible.

Count me in :)

I doubt there'll be new servers, but you never know...

There were a few opened the month before Ulduar with the 3.1.0 patch
Saurfang and Ulduar iirc. Both were straight PVE English speaking.. however, I dont think they have released any servers since to co-incide with the newer content.

Fingers crossed, I think they intend this to be a biggie and to get a lot of people back in. Its going to be a game re-vamp not just another instance bolted on to the side of existing content so maybe they will.

I'd be interested. Let us know closer to the date what the plans are. Faction, Server, etc.

I may consider it, but I'd only do it if horde. I've recently got a tank to 80 on Draenor, but I'd only play a PVE horde server!

Faction I'm not fussed. Played Horde all my TBC+ time and Alliance in Vanilla. Would most definitely be rolling one of each new race however just to check out the new starting areas. I'm happy to go either way depending on the majority with it.. however, Goblin racials atm look completely sick :D

Does look like the biggest changes have been on the more horde accessable maps, with the barrens/1k needles etc getting a big facelift

Why is this? : o

Stacks of low level raw materials going for silly money, random blues hit a massive premium as people save them for expacs.

On a fresh server, the AH market is always a little more lenient on the new roller, as nobody has any money.

Also you don't get the same recognition and community on a server. I found re-rolling on an existing server many of the people to be quite clicky and have the GL and Achievement way of thinking, which is a complete crock of **** seeing as a good player in blues could probably outheal most of the idiots in full epics.

All the gear... and no idea....

DECIDED TO GET THE BALL ROLLING.....I HAVE MADE A REROLL FORUMS

Would be better to discuss it on there than here, site is ready to take signups but its only a temp forum until we see if it is actually going to happen.

Great idea, I'll get signed up now. However, I dont want to move away from this thread completely, as the more we put on here, the more it stays on the first page and the more views it will get, Hopefully catching the eye of more peeps that will be interested in joining us.

I'd be interested as well if you don't mind a very casual gamer.

My main aim is to have fun working through the new content, I'm not looking to race to 85, I want to play it as I am approaching a new game (as much as I can)

I imagine many people will be rolling both new races plus a few other alts, so hopefully people will have toons of similar level all the way through the levelling process, so casual and very casual will be more than welcome.

From what I read in the other thread, the guy was a dedicated raider (and given his social shortfalls regarding the OcUK guild, apparently a bloody good healer) It looked like the main reason for his attempts were to flesh out a decent raid team.. this is something that is not my primary aim.

I'll be happy to spend a few hours here and there working with others with the same schedule to get a couple of toons through to 85 and then possibly some casual 10man raiding at 85.

The idea of guild banks, pooled funds and all the rest really only apply to a raid guild. I was looking at putting a Gbank together but only to hold very simple things that people want to donate.
I'm hoping most things if surplus to requirement to a guildmate and not being put on the AH for gold (which tbf we will all need) will be swapped and given amongst guildmates personally when we see each other online.

Really tempted to come back for Worgen fun, but it will drain my life again :o

KaHn

Thats was my original worry. Luckily I've got a wife now that is not scared to start pulling plugs out of walls and un-installing stuff on the PC if she sees me going down that road :)

I can hand on heart say that the vision that I and many others have of this "to be formed" guild is going to be all about fun. I don't have the hours to pour in to intensive 25man raiding. As I said in my OP, I'm up for some causal playing, some beer driven 10man raids with a heavy emphasis on being on vent and having a laugh. I don't want anyone being held to deadlines or feeling that they have to log in.

So far we have a small but quickly growing people who all seem of the same mindset, alts, PVPholics, arena teams, naked lvl 1 raids, causal, very casual are all very welcome.

I'm looking at the possibility of getting a small mumble/vent server sorted out in the coming months. I know some people that are currently playing (I'm not but I know a good few of you are) maybe arranging small meets on random servers maybe to get to know each other a little before re-rolling come cata.

I assure you this isn't a recruitment scheme for a 25man raiding guild. Its to be a fun guild made mostly from OcUK'ers.
Were also hoping that Cata will bring new servers, so no fear of paying to transfer your existing chars until at least a month or two down the road in which time you will have plenty of time to meet, greet and decide if its for you.

For the best part, its all about re-rolling and exploring the new world having some new people to chat to and without having to pug your way to 85 :D

Just a friendly bump, to let people know don't write this project off before it happens.

The forums that Voltage put together are going to be quiet as a) there is no real info on Cata that we can talk about, those in the Alpha are not allowed to tell us what we want to know.. and b) Its months away.

More people will look at the possibility of re-rolling and joining our merry band of men closer to the time of release.

Feel free to sign up and just talk random **** on the forums, or even in here as it wil keep it from slipping to page 5 again

Voltage is fine, although unfortunately he's no longer joining us in the project.
The forums have been taken down and I've been meaning to put up something new for us to use.
Its a shame as we did have some bits and bobs of info on there, but nothing too much to loose as the details on Cata up to now have been sparse.

Apologies, I've just been so busy the last few days at work that I've not had the time quite yet. Hopefully we can get some momentum on the new forums, Cata is yet a long way off but it would be nice to get to know a few others that are thinking of rolling a new toon when the expansion hits.

TLDR; The re-roll is still planned and still active. New forums will go up shortly. Until I can get a definite number of people interested it will be a free ****** guild portal most likely or a free phpbb forum. When we get a good collection of people using the forums I will develop and design a more unique and wow-ish website for our use, set up a mumble server and other such things.

Sorry Coals, I did get your mail, my trust account gets checked but not very often, and then I have to sift through piles and piles of junk and spam.

Will chuck up a basic forum tonight, and will post a linkie here. I wont have time to be full time moderator/admin but can extend admin privs to anyone that wished to help.

We did have some polls running on the old site, the general cencus was more people wanted to play horde on a PvE server.. but almost everyone wanted to at least roll a worgen/alliance to maybe check the new content from the other side..

Brb with a site :)

At present the board comes pre-loaded with the free hosting.

At the moment I would not have anywhere to host a vB licence, I'll look in to getting some hosting set-up as getting established then moving it again will be a PITA.

I'll take down the temp site and point to the new VB one in my OP as to avoid confsion.

Appologies to those that have signed on the pro-boards

Sorry, I've been away on business and I'm away again for the weekend, I wont have net access.. well I will but if the Mrs finds me on the laptop when we are away I'm pretty sure I can kiss goodbye to 8 years of marriage rather than celebrating it

Looks like you guys are doing ok.

I'll be popping back on soon once I've stolen my brothers account.
Cant say I'm looking forward to the monster sized patches I keep hearing about, my nets as ragged as hell at the moment

Hurray! Nathan is back :D

Thought we were never going to hear from you, get on board mate. There is a nice warm spot reserved for you! :)

Thanks, new job and a renegade 10 year old daughter been taking up lots of my time over the last months. Both have settled down a bit now so I will find some time to jump in.
Did start a trail account up last night just to see how much the game has changed.

Its set up, and its on Defias Brotherhood server which is an RPPvP server. Server is well balanced, not massively full of people ganking, not full of full time nerd rage RP'ers.. was a good choice, as much as I scoffed at it when I first read where they had landed.

I've not joined myself as the Christmas period is always a nightmare for me and I've got to obtain a new account, but I've heard good things.

RP'ing is not mandatory for the server, infact I know of no-one in the guild who does RP.
We went RP because it is, generally, a much more mature environment than normal servers. Seems to be less morons. Get yourself across.

Aye, does not seem to be the usual "/2 anal [mutilate] ROFLCOPTER" spam that plagues every other server in the EU.
I've seen one attempt at it, and the guy promptly left when nobody joined in his little game
