Yeah its a shame the way WoW went really, so much emphasis on gearscore and having certain addons or you're not joining in with us. Nevermind that I might be fun to play with or perfectly capable, I dont meet group Xs gearscore/addon requirements so ner !

Its just caused by the polar shift in MMO players attitudes that I often talk about, shame though.

How exactly?

Blizzard made sure that WoW addons would have no interaction with logon and that they can only ever affect UI.

The only way you could potentially get a virus is from the the zip of the addon when you open it to copy the files across which is highly unlikely if you're downloading it from a decent source (Curse, for example) anyway.

Plus, all addons LUA files have to be openly readable (no encryption) as per Blizzard's rules.

So...no.

Personally I'd wait till Cata for levelling any new chars. Levelling experience is getting a massive overhaul (flameburst? and dual wield at lvl 10 for enhance shammies!) and you get to play through all the new quests they have added/rehauled. And pretty new zones too!

Priest was my main, never got a complaint about my healing and healed fine without an addon. Maybe I am just a gaming god though

As long as your not in a 25 man raid and doing cross healing because some isn't pulling their weight it's fine with Blizz's default interface.

However I know a few sneaky priests who like to smite things for fun whilst healing.

You don't need any addons really but quest-helper is a nice addon, it'll save you searching thottbot a lot.
