wow multi boxing

Don't see the point in dual boxing at all personally.

and that's fine, it may not be for you, I can respect that, but what we (as multiboxers) can't stand is the "cheat", "bot" and "waste of money" or "got too much money" type comments which crop up in these sorts of discussions.

Multiboxing is not botting.
Multiboxing is not a cheat in any respect, Blizzard (and it's their game, you know) have stated so in numerous places.
Money, it's actually very cheap to multibox if you have the PC power to support it, and I would imagine a good proportion of OcUK readers do!

lol of course it does:rolleyes:. Set up correctly you just go around "one" shotting people.

Well, in a 5-box team there are 5 'characters', so you're being 5-shotted, if we're not being sensationalist about it, exactly the same as any other 5-char party could that communicated and worked as a team.

Any 5-player party would annihilate most 5-boxers in PVP as they have the huge advantage of independent movement and targetting. Multibox parties will tend to be targetting a single target, resulting in wasted firepower at times, and rely heavily on /follow... fear is their biggest, er, fear, hence shammies are a very popular choice for MB PVP as they have Tremor Totem to counter the fear.

Your complaint would seem to really be based on the fact that you can't get 4 other people to work with you, communicate and act as a team in PVP, which is the general WoW experience in non-arena PVP, to be honest.

lol  no it doesnt. What's the difference between one guy playing 5 characters and 5 guys playing 1 character each?

Nothing.

I've been playing 2 characters MB for 6 months now using hotkeynet, is much easier to do all the quests and I can only play WOW very late at night, no one is around to play with . I finally setup a 4 Shamans over the weekend = ) tempted to make another account.

started with 2 locks, played bout 30 mins gettin it all set up with macros etc, currently level 6, skiped all the gather quests as it will be to much of a pain i think.

thinking how i could do it with 2 palas but not sure how i get them both into melee range.

If you're RAFfing, you can skip all collection quests 1-60 easily, mate just RAFfed a mixed team to 60 and did no collection quests and never had to hunt for quests.

DK and Pally might work better, DK grips the target over, kill, repeat with healing if you need it.

ive been reading on dual boxing .com but i cant seem to find programs that are free, they seem to reccomend stuff you need to pay for, dont want to have to spend cash if i dont have to just wanted to try it out with a trial account to see if i wanted to take it further.

you dont ;) if you know what i mean;).

But i did what your doing and it took a while of getting used to but by about lvl 30 i had the hang of it.

Anyone who applies to my guild with this anywhere gets instantly rejected.

Dual boxing is fine, I don't do it but from what I have seen it is very effective in battlegrounds, questing and 10 man raids.

more of a challenge than playing 1 char.

You can't control 5 characters at once and play them to the best of their ability though, so yes it's a challenge to get them all going at once but you're not using any of them to the best of their ability.

I'd rather play one character to the best of my ability and be good at that rather than messing about playing 5 at a time. (way too much money by the way)

I'd consider multi boxing if my server was dead or I had no friends to find groups to. Actually, no I wouldn't because it's still a waste of money and you won't be able to raid with it.

Edit; Gearing up 5 characters too...do not want.

Octopus is cool.

I used to use hotkeynet and synergy but synergy has "mouselook on steroids+lsd whilst having some kind of siezure" bug on the remote machine.

The guy who makes octopus has a synergy clone without the mouselook oon steroids issue. I really liked the rest of how it worked (you just mouse to the edge of the screen and off the cursor goes onto the other monitor, excellent for handing in quests and such.

Considering it's not possible to do direct control of 2 characters with software (as soon as you turn with the mouse they get out of sync) the synergy style thing and a key broadcaster like hotkeynet will do you fine.

Macro's wise be creative with the use of shift+ctrl states

eg:

On local machine:
/cast trinket

on remote machine:
/cast [nomodifier]
/cast trinket

Now hitting the button will use trinket (i'm meaning the PVP trinket here) on the local machine. Alt/Shift/Ctrl and the button will cast it on the remote machine.

Make things as automatic as possible like setting "w" on the remote machine to "/follow maincharactersname"

If you aren't using 2 machines forget synergy etc.

For levelling characters fast multiboxing find something that the character your levelling can take at most a couple of hits from. Run with both characters out of party get your small character to tap it (/assist bigcharacter /cast something) then flatten it with ur main for good, fast xp. Used it in outland at the legion camps in Nagrand for about 10K experience per kill (level 68ish elites).
