wow multi boxing

You can't control 5 characters at once and play them to the best of their ability though, so yes it's a challenge to get them all going at once but you're not using any of them to the best of their ability.

I'd rather play one character to the best of my ability and be good at that rather than messing about playing 5 at a time. (way too much money by the way)

I'd consider multi boxing if my server was dead or I had no friends to find groups to. Actually, no I wouldn't because it's still a waste of money and you won't be able to raid with it.

Edit; Gearing up 5 characters too...do not want.

if its not for u dont do it, im only leveling chars to 60 as i dont think u can get triple xp after that, dont plan on raiding or anything so gearing up isnt a problem
:)

Just started multiboxing again myself, I can also recommend octopus as a free option. If you look at the dual boxing forums as already linked there is a questhelper like guide that takes you through all the quests avoiding collects for old world, dont think it has BC/WotLK stuff yet tho. You can get anything you want from those forums really... I wouldnt bother anywere else as you'll just get trolled.

One more thing you might want to check out is the 'interact with object' function, which with click to move enabled is amazing, it makes multiboxing melee's and questing in general so much easier as you can tell your chars to run up to something and interact with it independantly. It's by no means perfect as it just takes a direct path, but for making slaves talk to quest givers, loot corpses and run up to mobs its amazingly efficient. Details found here. Good luck!

little update, 2 locks are going well :) level 17 in bout 4 hours play, still working out little macros for things but im enjoying it a lot :)

Multi-Warlocks are great... my very first MB team was 5 Warlocks, demonology specced. They ripped through every dungeon in vanilla WoW, as you have 5 great tanks (voidies in dungeons, felguards outside) and huge firepower.

However, they failed when we reached the Ramparts, couldn't do the last boss (the flying dragon + rider), as the dragons fireballs with AOE on the ground just wiped out my tightly packed little clothies.

So, swapped one Warlock out with a Priest, went back, and annihilated the dragon :)

That team is languishing in the high 60s at the moment as my mixed team (80) and Shammies (71) took precedence.

Currently got 3 accounts and a few duo teams.

Mage + Shammie RAF'ed to 60 with my horde tankadin helping out with the group quests. Managed to solo the Ampitheater of anguish @ 75 with no real problem. They are both at 50% of lvl76.

Mage + Warlock, with my alliance tankadin. These were RAF'ed to 60. On hold since i havent got of time. They are about 67. I can nearly do all the level 70 5man's with them.

Tankadin + Spriest. Did 1-70 with these 2. Split them up for 70-80. Did this before RAF came about.

I started last night with a copy of keyclone and a RAF trial account. I setup two Orc shamans and seemed to have the macros sorted with using mouse-to-click movement rather than wasd, although getting used to it was a bit annoying when I clicked too much and both walked into the sea at Ratchet when doing the quest for finding the hidden path. :D

How do you guys control your healing between the character following and the main? I want to have both characters doing the lightning bolts and earth totems, then have a macro for each character that will cast a healing spell when the other is below 75% health. Found something useful:

Code:
/cast [target=focustarget,help,nomod][target=focus,nomod] Lesser Healing Wave

Where "focustarget" would be my main, or is the 75% health check count as automation?

You can't have any sort of intelligent healing, they removed decision type making in macros back in vanilla WoW when the Decurisve addon was far too 'intelligent' for their liking (back then you just spammed the assigned key and decursive would select who to decurse with which decursing type spell you had access to, it was very mindless).

I run 5 elemental shammies (with a /focus setup) so I don't have a dedicated resto-healer.
For them, I use 3 sets of heal macros.

1. Each shammy casts chain heal on a.n.other shammy, which bounces around to another 2 targets after that and everyone ends up on full life usually. Yep, can waste healing power and lower DPS for that few seconds but doesn't require much thought.

2. Each shammy casts healing wave on themselves, which is usually my post-combat heal-up action.

3. Each shammy casts chain heal on my current main characters target or, if that target is an enemy, casts on the main char. This is the most used healing macro as my main char will usually have the aggro (he has the best gear, so ahead on spell damage, and his spells hit slightly ahead of the other 4 chars). With this macro I don't have to change targets, everyone just heals the main and then returns to DPSing.

With 2 shammies you could go for something simple like:

Macro A - they both heal char A
Macro B - they both heal char B
Macro C - A heals B, B heals A (that way if A is being bashed, interrupting his casting, he gets a heal from B ASAP).

or even simpler:

Macro A - char B heals char A
Macro B - char A heals char B

that way A continues to DPS whilst B heals him and vice versa.
If they both need a heal, hit both heal macros.

If you need heals in a hurry, use /stopmacro as the first command in the heal macro so you interrupt your current spell to start healing.
