Wow, Nvidia have banned Hardware Unboxed from receiving review samples...

Yeah, AMD's driver package only just installs and works whereas I have to log in to GFE to get access to feature sets...I mean come on AMD get in the game.

Clearly you don't remember Nvidia cards crashing based on your HDD choice, or more recently several years of Apex Legends crashing to desktop thanks to their drivers. Just a couple of examples.

Linus on the WAN show absolutely nailed this correctly. It's nothing to do with getting a free card. This is bullying and trying to coerce a narrative from reviewers. I'm so happy to see so many other tech reviewers agreeing that this rubbish should not be acceptable.

do find it bizarre how many people are kissing up to nvidia over this. end of the day nvidia is messing with them because they want them to run ray tracing first and to hell with anything else because thats all that counts now to ALL GAMERS according to this pr muppet.

I'm not surprised, consumers becoming mind-slaves to corporations is nothing new. They'll happily throw away their ability to be rational if it means they can feel warm and fuzzy about their consumerism. It doesn't matter what Nvidia do their flock of sycophants will defend them, and this is from someone who owns a 3060ti.

I had and still own untill the £1 seller fees pop up, a 5700XT. In my experience in the 11 months I had owed it was sooooo bad. Constant PC lockups, black screens, forced restarts and in games I'd be playing with the few friends I have in my mid 30s. It was embarrassing when I told my mates who all had Nvidia GPU's sorry I can't play as it'll happen again. Also couldn't use discord as the hardware acceleration and overlay wouldn't work either.

I'm only about 20 hours into owning my 3080 and so far so good. It's nice to be able to play multiplayer with the 'boys boys boys' granted I paid over the odds for it. But even the buggy 5700XT resale is mental lol. I shouldn't loose a penny if I can sell it soon.

No disrespect but I do wonder if you managed to remove all the GPU drivers using DDU in safe mode. That usually gets rid of most problems.

Ignorant of what exactly? HU were given samples of a product that they failed to fully explore at a time when comparing to a competing product most likely due to the competing product not being ready. Is that really so hard to understand? Are you expecting me to go through HU's history becuase that doesn't change what happened in the here and now. Ignorance? Perhaps you just haven't considered how average consumers use review sites these days.
And how they use them, care to share?
I'm surprised why anyone would defend a company, for a long time nvidia is playing with us consumers, and some wise guys just falls face down to the ground to worship that company, that's an absurd. But loyalty is loyalty.
Sincerely, i'm waiting for one or two more players in gpu and cpu field, as AMD, Intel, NV, needs more competition. And i still can't get over a fact that now decent GPU costs like 600 pounds, please turn back time, when they were 300, and they were available to buy. Now there are no products to buy, and they cost an arm and a leg, some people can sort their life with the price of 1 GPU. Silly world.

I've checked the small list of games with RTX support and I dont own any of them. Why would I care which card has the best RTX performance? Maybe this time next year I'll have two RTX games. Is it really worth buying an Nvidia GPU for two games?

I'm sure things will change when next gen cards come out because Raytracing is a good feature, but in 2020 its niche due to a lack of support.

I actually wanted an rx6800/xt gpu, but the rtx 3070fe came up first so I bit. Upgraded from an reference rx480 and only wanted it for the extra FPS, wasn't really bothered about ray tracing. Now that I have a card capable of RT, tried it. Tried cp2077, control and metro, all very fleetingly because don't get much time to play, and to be honest I can't see much difference, maybe it's because my eye-sights not the best or my monitor isn't the best. Always had AMD in the past and would have stuck with them if I could have got a card, Nvidia definitely seem more shady

Things can change, When AMD launched the first Ryzen the CPU room was full of people screaming about Single Threaded performance and about how Intel was going to pull a CPU out of their arse to crush AMD.

About a year later when that didn't happen those people had realised Intel weren't sitting on an AMD crusher, as the years when on with Intel still refreshing the same CPU's with added cores that argument disappeared completely, now a lot of those people are proudly rocking Ryzen CPU's.

Sure there are one or two who keep the faith, but it really is just one or two, AMD for at least a year now have been selling 8 or 9 CPU's to every 1 that Intel sell in the DIY space, the Amazon Best sellers top 12 in CPU's has been almost entirely blocked out with Ryzen CPU's for the whole of 2020.

With Zen 3 AMD hold the performance crown in every metric, including IPC (by a long way) Single Threaded and 1080P gaming, that was not the case with Zen 1, Zen+ or even Zen 2, its taken them 3 years to make Intel completely obsolete in the DIY space but they have done it.

Right now AMD are at the Zen+ (Ryzen 2000) level with GPU's, they have come a long way but they still have a long way to go and there is plenty to clutch onto for those who just want to shout them down, but just wait a while.

Single thread performance on my 3950X is far better than any intel CPU I have used.

I found this out by playing my older games that run on a single thread and the difference is very obvious indeed when playing late in very large games, on Ryzen they run fine and on intel they don't run at all.

I have a 5950X sat on my desk waiting to be installed when I have the time, I think it will get a lot of use over Christmas.:D

FINALLY someone has realised what the main issue here is! its threatening someone's livelihood (and, by extension, a lot of other people's as well) just because the HU apparently skipped over or didn't make a big enough fanfare over a technology thats in it's infancy, causes mahoosive performance penalties, BUT will be relevant industry wide when the technology matures and is implemented industry wide.
Until then Nvidia are at the top of my ****list (great products, but awful business tactics)

Lastly, this driving me potty, its HERD not HEARD!:D

I think HUB has gained about ~13K subs almost overnight following this move by Nvidia.

I hope they continue to treat Nvidia fairly, i have no doubt they will, but also continue to ignore, completely, Nvidia's editorial demands, the fact is Hardware Unboxed took out Dirt 5 RT for the 6900XT, the only AMD sponsored RT game they had and put in Control despite that being completely broken on the AMD cards, IMO Nvidia had already got to them at this point and they caved in. even that was not enough for Nvidia.

Despite all these big tech reviewers standing behind Hardware Unboxed they had all cucked to Nvidia, especially JayZ2Cents. If they all agree amongst eachother that they are not going to follow Nvidia's editorial demands what are Nvidia going to do about it? nothing, they are going to suck it up.

The 5950X is an absolute monster, if you liked the 3950X the 5950X will blow your mind :) Multithreaded not so much but singlethreaded its WAY faster.

Seems like you missed the followup vid showing ray tracing and dlss etc..

If you are going to review hardware via benchmarks then you have to review ALL hardware. Shooting one's foot off seems to apply here.

In keeping a balance, AMD rightly dropped Jayztwocents a few years ago.

I bounce around many review channels, they all have there faults in one way or another.
I think there is a bit of a difference between what HU does and what Jay2cent does. HU does test RT but don’t obviously do in-depth dive with the 18 game comparison. Cos 1) there aren’t that many games have RT 2) implantation of RT varies so much across those games such that some (Tomb Raider) gives no benefit to the visual and other (Cyberpunk) is noticeable. So how do you normalise that? 3) Jay2cent is bought by intel Nvidia Corsair etc. So his opinions are motivated by money so not worth anything at all. And rightly should be dropped by AMD and anyone else who wants a fair revie of their products.

Aside from Steve's and Tim's personalities - which I like, I've always found their content very unbiased, so long may their success continue. It's great to see other channels agree on this recent development. :)

Hey thanks for the reply, absolutely no disrespect :)

Yeah I've got the latest version of DDU Uninstaller, the thing is some drivers would work then I'd try the new ones (as lets be honest AMD churned out lots of versions) and again some would work. I did mention that the drivers are a lot better now. Both WHQL and latest optional worked well with my games and the last optional worked with cyberpunk. Just took way to long lol. I am no looking forward to meeting up with my "boy boy boys" for a late night gaming sesh.

I wasn't alone with driver issue. And I wasn't lucky enough to be bug free most of the time.

If I could've gotten a 6800XT last week I would've over the 3080 as I do prefer the underdogs. Again my opinion with liking AMD more :)

It is, Tech reviewers are like a community, they watch eachothers backs, its great to see, it also makes them powerful, powerful enough to put someone like Nvidia back in their box, i just wished they would use that power more.
