Wow! Our electricity bill is now £1000/yr!

£900 is the average for a detached house, £800 for a semi-detached.

You're not that much above that. Mind you, I don't know what type of house you live in.

That's quite a lot, I think m,ine is pretty bad (my father's fault - he has multiple freezers, huge fridges and uses electric heaters everywhere instead of putting the GCH on).

But even that's only £50 a month. Electric hob / oven by any chance? Dryer? There must be something pulling kw's and that's always something that gets hot.

our recent 3 month one for gas and elec just turned out at 730 :/ 6 students in ere though but its still a bit ridiculous

3 Bed terraced. 2 Adults.

£95/month. Worked out winter usage and we owe about £25, so should end up in a fair bit of credit come summer.

£95/month is combined elect and gas. Heating/water is gas.

Its not ridiculous. We spend £150 month combined and we switch to the best deals wherever possible. Its rip off britain and Mr brown should tighten the laws but wont because they make money off the taxing of our spends
Exactly what we're paying. £100 electricity, and £50 gas.

I need to look into our BT bill as well... That's £46 a month, and we hardly use it :(

Economy 7 and run all the heavy use items at night (Dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer)

Fit energy saving bulbs everywhere. Turn things off including your computer when it isn't in use. Oh and whilst you're at it insulate the loft with Space Blanket and fix and drafts.

By doing these we have made some good savings on our bill. Also switch suppliers.

i'm with eon atm, paying £130pm but our washer/dryer is on on average once a day (c rating) and dishwasher (a rathing) 4 times a week also.

does this sound overly expensive? maybe i should switch?

The 6 winter months cost me £704.

I have no central heating, so open fire in the living room and oil filled rads in the other rooms, although I have an electric mica panel heater in the living room.
