wow re-roll - class?

someone mentioned 5 man heroics, How much more difficult are they compared to the normal 5 mans, just got my TK key last night and want to make use of it immediately :)

They aren't especially well tuned - in some parts they are little harder than normal instances, in other cases you need a pretty well equipped tank/healer or a bit of lateral thinking. Crowd control and range is king - a lot of the mobs will pretty much one-shot a cloth wearer.

Ive had the same character from day one (2004). A retribution specced Pally. Having stuck with my pally, i know exactly how to play my class. And i cant tell you the amount of times that i have saved the day with a couple of flash heals and some big hits whilst in groups.

Obviously i dont hit as hard as warriors or rogues but i also dont die that quickly and will usually be the last one there at the end ready as always to Res people.

Mind you, i havent played for about 3 weeks becasue i cant be bothered.

Have to say the same for me. Retrib pally, with a few points in prot just to boost my armour as i wield 2H. Armory

Usually the last one standing at the end. But i dont get many groups as people turn their noses up at retridins :(

For shame

I quit ages ago, but levelling my druid to 60 was a complete joy, not in any way a chore :)

I was rest/feral spec for the all important 1UP.

Stealthed cat, slice open opponent with combo.
Switch to caster and rejuvenation on myself.
Bear mode, maul, maul, maul, maul until I am on 15% health.
Bash.
Caster, natures swiftness, healing touch myself back to full health.
Bear, maul until dead.

The never failing one-on-one PVE tactic :D

Soloing Smoulderweb was also fun!

Retribution is the only spec I've not played with much, only toyed with it recently to be honest. It's not the most rewarding way to play a paladin in my opinion.

You done much tanking\healing?

I've always been puzzled by hybrid classes who 'only' heal or tank etc. You're a hybrid class ffs! I always carry 3 sets of gear with me, it's pain but means I'm much more versatile.

As for heroics, I've found casters don't hit much harder but the melee hit like trains. You really should be taking 3 DPS of which at least 2 can crowd control, and do it properly. ie - A sheep, sap, trap etc. I tend to avoid fury warriors, ret pallies, druids and locks as DPS. I'm normally tempted to take a shadowpriest as 3rd DPS though.

The boss fights aren't much harder, although a little trickier. If you have 5 people not working as a team, with proper coordination you will wipe on nearly every pull. You coordinate, easy peasy. Just take gear from level 70 instances like SL\SH\SV\Arca\Mech\Bot\Dark Portal.

Cool, thanks for that, I'm a prot warrior with a mix of T4 and decent blues, so i'm basically trying to get my sticky little mits on Sun Eater :)

From memory, that drops off heroic Pathaleon the Calculator? Fortunately Mech is one of the best heroics to visit - you get 5 heroic badges for a full run, though the Nethermancer boss (the one that spawns the flame adds) can be VERY frustrating if you have the wrong group or get unlucky with who the adds focus. Fortunately you can run past her and the last boss is pretty easy

In case you aren't aware, there's a 24 hour lockout on heroics - you can only do each one once per day.

Pala, shaman or rogue is most likely to get you your T4 items as the bosses in Kara / Grull & Mag only seem to want to drop the Champ token on my server.

Paladins are only wanted in endgame as healers and buffers. Try speccing retribution and going raiding! :p

We have a Retribution Pally in our guild (Nocturnal Fear - Emerald Dream) Who is regularly Top 3 DPS, Plus he brings a lot to the raid force in the way of keeping judgements up etc. If you don't have a Retribution pally in your raids you are missing out :)

Well personally I think any build/any class played properly would be fine - however I was more commenting on the fact that 90% of guilds would laugh a Retri Paladin off the server without thinking!

You on alliance side of ED?? Our guild is looking for other friendly guilds as we are just starting on Kara attunement. Only have 7 or so level 70s though.

Pallies are easily the best 5 man tanks both normal and heroic in my opinion. They can tank Kara and have no problems generating threat. I reckon they start falling down at the SSC level though (it may partially be down to bad itemisation). My guild tried a Pally MT on Morogrim Tidewalker (he hits like a truck) when we were learning the fight - he went down so fast you wouldn't believe it.

Mind giving me his name so i can check out his gear? He should be uncrushable before attempting even Gruul or SSC. In Kara you can still get away with it. I had 5 healers on me while tanking Gruul and my health never dropped below 70%.

Morogrim hits for 3-5k on plate and 8k crushing (which shouldnt be an issue really), your healers should keep him up easily. Saying that, i've never tanked him or been in the fight so i cannot comment too much.

Interesting, i'll try that. I like keeping an open mind to the secondary or even tertiary abilities of different classes but i've never warmed to retribution pallies.

With a good group and good CC it's dead easy. Black Morass Heroic and Blood Furnace Heroic can get a bit hairy sometimes, the rest is pretty straight forward.

I played undead Rogue to 60 on the PVP server which was great fun. I got bored as 60 was max at the time. So i went over to Everquest 2 and played Fury up to lev 70. Absolutely loved EQ2 :) but yet again got bored.

May have to blow the dust off my Rogue again

Played pally up until just before burning crusade, switched to rogue and never really looked back. Definitely go with whatever you find the most fun but I would recommend trying a few of the more unusual pally builds before you ditch him. The AOEadin from protection spec is suposed to be cake to level (you can run around and grab like 8/9 enemies of same level and they will kill themselves on your reflected damge from the likes of holy shield/retri aura/shield spike etc) :D

I have an affliction warlock, combat rogue and a resto shaman. In endgame there seems to be a lot more demand for the 'lock (hefty raid dps) and the shaman (but only as resto spec, alas) than the rogue.

The shaman was a true pain in the backside to level (they are a bit gimped atm), the rogue was okay but the warlock was a breeze. I'm tempted to try a mage after seeing a frost mage AOE farming packs without any bother.

Thx for the advice on Heroic TK. Sun Eater dropped on my second run :)

Gotta grind for the other keys now:)

Most fun i ever had with a class was a druid, just didnt find it a chore at all churning out the levels. Plus for extra fun stay at 60 for a while, collect some outlands gear and pvp... you should have more life than a lock in kitty form and more attack power than a rogue :D
