5.54pm you could see the space station moving in the sky and OH MY how quickly it was moving. Was so amazing to see it so clear as you usually wouldn't get to see it that bright :)

6.18pm (4 minutes late tut tut tut) saw the shuttle following it which is meant to dock tomorrow :)

Anyone else get a chance to see it all happen?

Looks like a really really bright star (which i think is due to the sun reflecting off of it) and travels very fast, so you can tell the difference between it and a plane.

how much bigger than a normal plane is the ISS? I ask because I know it's MUCH higher than planes fly and they look pretty small sometimes.

12852.11 square feet, and it weighs 540617.6 lbs. :)

Not sure what size a plane is in comparison though. :p

You can tell it's not a plane as it doesn't have 3 flashing lights and it's moving about 10 times the speed.

Looks like a bright planet.

It said 7:29 for <1minute for Tamworth. But i've been out there and couldn't see anything at all :(

I could see a small white dot moving slowly, dont know if that was it.

Doesn't match the descriptions people have said above.

It will be travveling a lot faster than a plane, it goes from horizon to horizon in 3 minutes! Look up and you will see a plane sized bright object moving really fast.

Hi, i don't normally reply to these post, but they interest me a lot.

I'm sorry if this sounds really stupid, but is it possible that you guys could take a photo of what your seeing?

What the OP said sounds amazing.

Thanks

Use the spaceflight link above. You'll need to know which is north/south and if you can get out of a built-up area (local park will do) it'll give you more field of view so more chance.

Naked eye is sufficient for most but a decent pair of binoculars won't do any harm. :)

PS - of course the ISS moves faster than a plane. It orbits the earth once every 91 minutes. That's roughly 17,000 mph, or the equivalent of about Mach 27. :D

Ok, I can see now how it works from the "Approach" information - I have a nice pair of bins which I hope to use.
Cheers
