Priest: Healing whores. No more to say. Can only wear cloth so they die real quick.

True priests are treated as walking healing pots most of the time but you have overlooked the shadow tree, perhaps one of the most powerful and fun builds to play in my opinion. Fairly easy to pick up and play but takes time to master. Although at the moment the shadow tree is mainly focused on the PVP side of things the patch and Burning crusade looks to change that, giving shadow priests added utility in raids. A priest was the first character I made in wow and have been shadow speced from the very start and I love it, not only that but I am lucky enough to be in a guild that allows me to spec as I please. This is quite rare though.

I would advise you to think carefully when you create your character as if you pick a class that has an ability to heal, i.e priest, druid, shaman or paladin most guilds will want you to have a healing spec and you will be forced to stare and health bars for hours when you go raiding (not much fun). That’s not so say you could mainly focus on PVP and get some nice gear from that.

What weapon do you guys recommend me to use on my main hand and off hand?

For leveling id recommend a slow sword (may need to train one handed swords at a weapon trainer in a city) as your main hand weapon (2.4 or higher) and a fast (1.8 and below) dagger in your off hand. Slow weapons have best top end damage meaning you will get more damage from your sinister strikes and eviscerates. This way you can also train both weapon skills as you level as these two types of weapons is probably what you will be using in end game and save you the bore at 60 (although there are some nice maces about, especially with Naxx). Spec heavily into you combat tree and a few in Assasanation as your leveling. Go for the sinister strike energy reduction talent (combat tree I think) as your first talent points then go for 5 points in the Assasanation talent which gives you a 5% crit chance and go from there.

Maybe so, however healers are still in demand so creating a dps class is a bad idea imo. Theres already aload around so joining an already established guild will be hard, unless you have really good gear.

Level 60 is ages off as is raiding if you ever go down that route. My advice is to play a few characters up to level 10, then pick the one you find the most fun.

Higher sword skill will up your DPS which is one of the reasons why rogues go for the Maladath sword (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=40807) but It all depends on the level Mob your fighting and your hit percentage. The guide below explains it.

http://www.wowwiki.com/Formulas:Weapon_Skill

The Hakkari offhand weapon is a good rogue offhand but the Hakkari mainhand is not really much good due to its speed. It does n't give you those big SS crits you need. If you are doing MC go for Brutality blade MH.

yeh this is true, however, im going for a new combat sword build ready for TBC, with points in assassination ready for high posions application. these warblades gie the best white dmg, my SS cfit for 700 still, and they apply posions incredibly fast. untill a good 1 handed MH sword drops, these babies hit fast.

Just some ideas on the classes i know.

Mage (my main just about to hit 60) - Fire builds give you an amazing amount of burst damage - highest in the game (i will probably respec fire at somepoint to really try it out). Frost do less damage but are more mana effiecient and have more controlling effects and survivability (ice shield which absorbs a lot of damage).

Priest (alt lv 43) - I've only tried shadow and i can say it can do a lot of damage and with the added bonus of a % of your damage dealt healing you means usually finishing a fight with full HP. Very fun to play as you along with the warrior are the "core" of the group so you find groups easily but is more responsibility. Holy build is devoted mainly to healing (can do good damage is properly speced but doesn't come as easy as shadow) and most priests end game are holy. Is where i'll be going once higher level.

Warlock - My girlfriend plays one (lv 44) and its a class everyone hates as they as just too good at pvp, able to do burst damage and damage over time and a pet to deal damage. Easy to solo and fun to be able to beat almost anything you want to.

Hope thats some help, and yes i'm very much into casters :p

I do have to say, frost mages look like a lot of fun to play. On my 25 rogue I always see mages in Raven Hill Cemetry taking on 4+ mobs at once and not getting touched.

Yer it does rock :D

I've found a very nice place in western plaguelands where i can take down at least 8 at a time. Gives very nice XP, rep and cash/items. Only way i've seen fire mages do it is by tag teaming with a lot of stam gear to take most of the hits but is a lot more risky.

A good thing about being a mage that in most fights i will only get hit once so nice low repair bills.

Thats also a nice thing about a priest. Most groups will try and make sure the priest is left alone so your repair bill is usually really low. Also, if you are good with the shield your repair bill can be low soloing also.

I feel sorry for tanks though.
