WRC 2010 PC Demo

Why would anyone pre-order any game that they had never even tried?

I suspect a reason for a lot of bitterness towards bad games is people pre-ordering, paying top whack, to find it's a lemon! :p

I had it on pre-order because its was only costing £15.85 and i wanted a proper rally game, but i'm glad i tried it before the sale went through.

Yeah you can feel that drawing distance is poor, i think tjat's cause it's been ported from console. I don't care too much about hraphics as i want rally game and that's it. It's much more better than nothing :)

Stifler where did you find this game so cheep? i would buy it :)

I don't find the force feedback on the game great (using a DFGT). On other rally games (DiRT/RBR) you get chatter through the wheel but you don't get much on this demo, so it feels a little disconnected to me. Graphics aren't great both the motion blur lessens how noticeable this is. Still quite fun though!

thats kinda positive- I will be using a dgft too :)

There's an option to change when the pace notes are called.

Andi.

I remember Rally Championship: Xtreme had that feature, you could go around all the tracks and choose when you would like your co-driver to call the notes for each corner. It felt like the developer added this purely because of their own laziness though as 99 times out of 100 you'd be going too fast for the default pace notes to keep up, still a great rally game though. :D

The demo can't cope with multiple controllers. I have a G25 wheel but use ECCI pedals on a separate USB connection. It won't configure the wheel and see the pedals for acceleration/brake.

Andi.

without a doubt one of the biggest disappointments of 2010, had high hopes for this game, nothing works properly lol, cursor keys stopped working, so i couldnt config the controls, and as for it working with my logitech wheel, not a chance lol - terrible, really terrible, only thing i can think is they spent all the budget on the licence, then couldn't afford any coders, so it was knocked up in someone's bedroom with no previous coding experience, it really is that bad.

As my mate put it, "the only good bit is the the sound of the co-driver when you crash, and that's only because it sounds freaking hilarious"

Also, to get 360 pad support, you need to set it in options, it defaults to keyboard whether the pad is plugged in or not :S

Just bought the retail version today...

Can anyone advise how:

1. You set it up to recognise the XBox 360 pad or joystick as control input? I can't fnd any means of doing this - you get an option screen to change keyboard mapping but nothing to select the primary input device.

2. How do you exit the game without Ctrl-Alt-Del? Can't find anything on the screens that takes you back out to the desktop.

Seems like another hacked about console conversion not even properly beta tested!

Oh well, back to the train sims...

i think its alt f4 to exit

pretty stupid hey? I couldnt setup my DFP in the demo so wont be parting with my money on this one

On the demo you could certainly quit without ctrl-alt-del and use a 360 pad. Haven't got it installed any more to tell you exactly how but hope that helps a bit ;)

edit - post 17 tells you how to select the 360 pad.
