WRC 7 FIA World Rally Championship

Playing this at a friend's made me realise how much of a waste of money Dirt 4 was. I still slightly prefer its driving model as it's less floaty and more grounded but in this one you can at least slide about like a madman and there's more variety within a single stage that in all the "randomly generated" copy&paste stages in Dirt 4 with the same sections repeating multiple times.

I'd like some more weather options (and more dust!) but I think I'll buy the game at some point.

Yes that would be good but at least they are on the right track compared to past WRC games.

You know you want it.:)

I do, never enough rally games:p

I'll probably end up playing both this and D4 occasionally as it has a lot more cars but in terms of stages there's no contest. I vastly prefer 4 varied stages per country I can repeat over and over again and get better times. Hell, D:R had 2 and I wasn't bored with them because they were well designed and I suppose it'll be the same with WRC.

I think the game doesn't even need to be compared to anything, it defends itself pretty well. And I don't know wtf some reviewers are on about saying the graphics are awful. It looks good, better than D4 for the most part.

I hope the Dev's get rid of the co-driver shouting brake and also that banging noise when you go over dumps.

Even with the volume down both just grate on you.

Caved in and got the game yesterday. It's a very pleasant surprise in many regards. Good graphics, really nice feeling handling and difficult enough to be challenging. The stages are very pretty graphically, varied and awesome to drive on. There should be slightly more per country since it's an official WRC game but the epic stages are super nice and they aren't always just straight up the other two roads glued together so they still feel somewhat different.

I had some rather subtle but noticeable microstutter but running windowed borderless fixed the problem. Other than that, it runs perfectly.

I agree with you on the co-driver. I find him really annoying, they should've included a bunch of them to choose from.

Yes I think this latest WRC game surprised everyone now they have a good foundation to work from, like tweaking the physics and weather.

This is my first WRC and looking forward to the next one lets hope they don't make the same mistake like D4.

It's definitely a title to watch, going by how much they've managed to improve upon WRC6. I'm fairly positive they won't disappoint with WRC8 as they have all the licensing and, as you've said, a very solid foundation, so they can do whatever they want in terms of stages/cars without the need to resort to dodgy generators.

What I'd like to see from the next game are some historic cars, dynamic weather, some more stages of this quality per country and some physics tweaks but I can't say I'm not satisfied with what I got, especially that the game was cheaper than D4. It's a must for rally fans, a solid 8/10 in my book.

What wheels are people using with this game?. Im just about to buy a new wheel for my pc and a racing seat but ive heard that the Logitech G29 isnt working with this game???

Was thinking of getting the g29 or g920

Sounds good and think I will take the plunge. Just one question though, are the courses based on real world locations (like in the old 1999 Rally Championship) or are they semi-fictional/composite renditions?

the courses are based on real locations.its a good game you have to put in time to learn though.like dirt rally.dirt rally is also on offer on steam at 7 quid which if you havent played it the best modern rally game.i have quitea few world record runs on wrc 7 if you want to see them.its all about being clean and pushing hard.takes a while but when you get it right it feels great.

Already got Dirt Rally, found it suffered a bit from the AI-always-slightly-better-than-you syndrome.

See WRC 7 is listed at full price £34.99 on Steam so not sure where the previously reported low prices came from, will watch the key sites or see if it has a % off in the forthcoming seasonal sales.

Came across this WRC 7 Guide in Steam> Hate the "Brake!" or some other callouts? You can delete them from gamefiles> http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1187924134

Deleting callout audio files, Braking calls will be heard, even if you set "Co-driver detail" to minimum.

I found them distracting, because in many places you shouldn't really brake much at all if you want fast time. They don't also care about your speed, so if you go 2 km/h it will still tell you to "Hard brake!"

If you installed the game on for example C: drive, go to folder:

C:/Program Files(x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/WRC7/WIN32/Sounds/Voice/EN/PACENOTES

Here are the audio files. Delete any you dislike. I deleted the "Brake!" and "Hard brake!" callouts, but you can delete for example all "Short" callouts, to make pacenotes less cluttered.

Obviously if you don't use English audio, go to your respective language folder instead of /EN

To search for all callouts you can use Ctrl+F function of Windows Explorer with search word "brak" or "short" etc. and just delete all of it. Game will start no problem, and these audio files won't be heard.

If you deleted wrong files or want to go back, you can do Steam integrity check, to redownload files, without downloading entire game.

What l did was to create a folder In Pacenotes called it Pnotes> but l use CUT instead of DELETE and put them in the folder l created.
So all you have to do is replace them back far easier if you make a mistake.

It seems there's been an update, not sure what it does.

I don't know why but the last time I played the game rebooted my PC, twice on splash screen and once during a stage. It happened only in WRC7.

OLDPHART, My bad.. I meant it IS that price now, wasn't a question sorry I worded it badly.

No wurries, lol l get a bit cranky at 62.

Yes there was a update but very small, no problems here.

Try a repair> verify integrity of game files.

Turns out it wasn't the game, as it happened once in Tekken yesterday. Seems to be random, I really hope it's not a hardware issue:/ Maybe it's the cable I use with my pad messing with the USB port or the new nvidia drivers.
