Ignore the trolls, Jed.
I find writer's block comes to me most when I need to work out boring or complex sections of creative writing. As it's my job, I write constantly and have found that there are only three PRODUCTIVE ways to defeat the block:
1) Remove all distractions from your work area including TVs, strippers, Facebook, children, Call of Duty - Hell, even close the curtains and put the light on. Then, sit down, re-read your work from the beginning and slog away.
2) Alternatively, you can research. Need inspiration for a death scene? Listen to Richter's On the Nature of Daylight. Want to write an action sequence? Watch some Hollywood examples. You get the idea.
3) Thirdly, tell someone about your story. Often, when I'm describing a plotline to my (patient and bored) wife I will think of new additions or alterations for the story simply through having to tell a real, critical, question-asking human.
