The internet went out like an hour ago, so decided to go on my mobile data (I'm on pay-as-you-go). It said I had £0.05, so I decided to top up and selected the debit card option. Apparently my card was already saved with three, so I entered the amount I wanted (just £5) and entered my security digits.

It then went on to explain the different add ons you can do, but I wasn't interested so I hung up. I checked my balance after the call and it said I had £25.05....

I never once typed in or specified I wanted £25.. And I'm going to assume that's been instantly taken out my account?

What can I do from here? Suck it up or will three support be able to retract £20 from my balance and refund me that?

People still use pay as you go? Damn..

You'll probably be stuck with it, no harm in ringing them up though.
Yes, because like the OP I don't use my phone much. I'd bet I spend less per year than you do per month if you're on a contract. It suits some people go be on PAYG.

Fam..

Payg is pretty cheap on the right plan. No tie ins, no need to worry if you accidently leave your phone connected to a call etc

Sorry back on topic - OP maybe they changed there top up system, to a press 1 for x, press2 for x sort of thing?

Might explain it?

Nothing wrong with PAYG. I am not one of these people that can't be parted from the phone and hardly ever use it so PAYG is perfect for me. I put £10 on it 6 months ago and got a free £20 extra (only lasts for a month but is used first) and still have £7.63 on it.

:/ emailed them and they basically said I could've entered £25 by mistake instead of £5, but I'm pretty damn sure I only pressed 5 on my phone. Then they reassured me the balance will always be there (o rly?). Looks like I won't get a refund, even tho there was zero confirmation, etc.

I feel scammed :(

You most likely did put in 25 by mistake

Nevertheless, does it really matter? Surely this just means you wont have to top up for a while

It isnt like you have lost money, unless you were planning to ditch your pay as you go phone in the next few days.

Call and speak to CS. Three are usually quite good in dealing with such issues

Three have got by far the worst levels of customer service I have ever known. I only stuck with them for so long on the basis that they were the only network offering AYCE data but the CS was utterly dire.
