all shops do that to stop people (like you?) not paying for a TV licence. Sadly it doesn't matter if you don't watch TV. Has a TV? need a TV licence

recently got one of these letters because I bought a new tv in my name and license is in wifes - shouldn't take a genius to figure that one out but I guess it keeps some retard in a job.
To be honest, I wouldnt want to pay for a license for the crap they put on the BBC channels. Really? I want to give my money so they can have idiots like Johnathan Ross talk a load of rubbish?
I rather donate the money to some charity every now and again then give my money to people like them. Again theres loads of stories how the BBC actually has TOO much money which they splash out on crap, and personal things. Its in the news...
Next time pay by cash and don't give them your real address![]()
Because tall the money raised through the TV license is given to the BBC? Read up on it before you start slandering.
Let me know where the awesome tv license money goes to... I like to see where the money goes, since "TV License" part was a dead cert give away it goes towards TV, unless people thats been pay for a license doesnt know where their money is going.
Also, the money is NOT "raised", its not a charity, people PAY for it, they dont donate the money to the TV License company.
I apologise for putting raised. But it's isn't the just the BBC that get the money. CHannel 4 and Five get some, and so does ITV, and I think, BSkyB.
We reserve the right to cancel or revoke a licence, or modify its conditions by publishing a notice. This notice may be published on the BBC's website or in other national communications.
The form was probably referred to as a TV licensing form at the shop and I'm sure it says so on the form.Bit cheeky isn't it, the shop telling TV licensing such information.
I dont get what everyones problem with the TV license enforcement is. If you get multiple letters and people calling at your door let them in ffs to prove you dont have means of receiving broadcasts, then the letters and calls will stop. All you "i know my rights" people are just making life more difficult for yourselves. How else are they meant to check?
What about PCs that have tuners do they need one too?![]()
and this is the UK >_>
You don't get it.
I have no TV, not had one for years, TV does not interest me in the least, why am I hounded constantly by them for NOT having something?
It's like you not being into Fishing for example, and you getting constantly harassed for not having a Fishing Licence.
But it's only TVLicensing that seem to be legally allowed to harass members of the Public in the UK who choose not to have something. This is the main issue I have with this Organisation, it is a disgrace that they are allowed to do this.
But when you consider 90%+ of the homes in the uk have a tv of some description, and it is illegal not to have a TV license if you require one, surely they are allowed to check? Its like the DVLA and car tax, you will be on their database as a car owner so they are entitled to investigate untaxed cars registered under your name.
